The Department of Homeland Security has issued a warning over the dangers of frying your turkey for this coming Thanksgiving, while simultaneously frying you with their TSA X-ray scanners.  In a recent Twitter warning, the DHS asked “How dangerous can turkey fryers be?” Along with the message was an embedded YouTube video that ominously highlights the dangers of frying a turkey.

The video simulates the act of frying a turkey, utilizing fireman suits and hard hats as if they were handling some type of explosive material. Of course at various points in the video the turkey frying goes wrong, resulting in the eruption of flames and a warning from to the host. “Make sure the turkey is completely thawed before placing in a fryer, or this may happen.”

You can view the video for yourself below:

It seems that the DHS is barging into your home life, portraying itself as a ‘loving’ government organization that truly caring about you and your family. Meanwhile, their scanners are radiating young children and pregnant women with ionizing radiation that admittedly causes cancer.

Instead of addressing the issue of the cancer-causing X-ray scanners this Thanksgiving, the DHS’ prime target is your holiday turkey. Already banned in the EU over health and safety concerns, the rest of the world seems to waking up to the dangers of the TSA’s naked body scanners. Meanwhile, the TSA continuously denies that the scanners are unsafe, with the TSA administrator going back on his promise to launch an independent review into their safety.

Instead of relying on hard evidence, TSA administrator Pistole denies the need for the study citing his personal belief in the machines. In fact, he goes on to discuss his “belief” in the safety of the machines:

‘My strong belief is those types of machines are still completely safe,’ Pistole said. ‘If the determination is that this IG study is not sufficient, then I will look at still yet another additional study.’

This is particularly concerning due to the fact that the busiest travel period of the year is fast approaching. With an influx in holiday travelers comes an influx in X-ray scanner radiation that has been found to oftentimes exceed 10x the expected dosage of the machines.

If you plan on traveling this Thanksgiving, frying your turkey will probably not be your biggest concern. Instead, you may want to opt-out of the TSA’s naked body scanners to avoid being fried with cancer-causing radiation.
