Trump: “Leakers Are Traitors and Cowards… We Will Find Out Who They Are”

President Donald Trump’s administration has been plagued with an incredible amount of leaks, some credible and some not so credible.  However, on Monday, Trump put leakers on notice that he considers them to be traitors and cowards and his administration “will find out who they are.”

“The so-called leaks coming out of the White House are a massive over exaggeration put out by the Fake News Media in order to make us look as bad as possible. With that being said, leakers are traitors and cowards, and we will find out who they are!” Trump tweeted Monday.

Now, to be fair, it depends on what kind of information is being leaked to the press as to whether it should be considered treasonous or even cowardly.

There’s nothing wrong with those in positions reveal to the press criminal activity that is going on in an administration or via a representative or other government employees.  That is not treasonous nor is it cowardice.  It is patriotic and brave.

However, the Trump administration’s latest leak is not something that is treasonous.

Special assistant to the president Kelly Sadler allegedly made a comment about Senator John McCain’s (R-AZ) failing health due to a brain tumor.

Yet, as Axios reported, some of the more serious leaks have come from people with a bone to pick for a variety of reasons.

White House leakers used a raft of excuses Sunday to justify sharing sensitive Trump administration information with reporters, reasons ranging from a way to settle personal scores to dealing with a confrontational work environment within the West Wing.

“The most common substantive leaks are the result of someone losing an internal policy debate,” a senior administration official told Axios. “By leaking the decision, the loser gets one last chance to kill it with blowback from the public, Congress, or even the President.”

The aide then likened working in the White House to “kind of like being in a never-ending ‘Mexican Standoff.'”

“Everyone has guns (leaks) pointed at each other and it’s only a matter of time before someone shoots. There’s rarely a peaceful conclusion so you might as well shoot first,” the official added.

Other officials attributed the spilling of administration secrets to “personal vendettas” or “to make sure there’s an accurate record of what’s really going on” in the West Wing.

No doubt, these kinds of leaks undermine the strategy of the Trump administration  I would suggest doing a full house cleaning leaving no one behind who may have been loyal to the previous administration.

In either case, it seems that Trump is putting leakers on notice that they will be found out and dealt with accordingly.  I’m sure he already has a scheme in the works to catch them too.
