FBI’s Uranium One undercover operative Campbell speaks: Bureau looking into Clinton Foundation

(National SentinelWitness: A deep-cover operative for the FBI spoke on camera for the first time this week about his involvement as a witness to the Uranium One deal during an interview with The Hill.

Speaking to investigative reporter John Solomon, William D. Campbell discussed his involvement with the deal, the Russian criminal elements involved in it, and how — through various mechanisms of corruption — Moscow was able to obtain 20 percent of all U.S. uranium, a strategic asset vital to the construction of nuclear weapons.

Campbell said FBI agents recently interviewed him for more than five hours, seeking new information about Bill and Hillary Clinton and their foundation. Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, was President Obama’s secretary of state as the Uranium One deal was being made; her office was part of a multi-agency approving authority that eventually signed off on the deal, during which time her husband was collecting $500,000 for speeches in Moscow.

“They were looking into the Clintons, and the information that I provided to them about the Clintons and about what was said and confirmed by Russian leadership seemed to be very important to them,” Campbell said, appearing in shadow during the interview in order to protect his identity, The Hill reported.

The news site reported further:

Campbell worked as an FBI undercover informant from 2008 through 2014 inside Russia’s nuclear industry, helping to uncover a bribery, kickback, money laundering and extortion scheme that sent several Russian and U.S. executives to prison.

Campbell was summoned to Capitol Hill last month for a closed-door interview by Republicans concerned that the corruption he uncovered should have prevented the Obama administration from approving the deal, as well as billions of dollars’ worth of nuclear fuel contracts to Russia.

Democrats savaged Campbell in a memo released following his testimony, attacking him for being unable to remember certain details without the assistance of handwritten notes. Campbell recently suffered from, and was treated for, a cancerous tumor in his brain.

“I am not a Republican. I am not a Democrat. I’m not an independent. I am a damn American,” he said. “I’d like to remind those Democratic staff members who wrote that interview summary that none of ’em have ever worked undercover as a confidential informant … and put themselves in clear and present danger with Russian criminals who are breaking U.S. law.”

He said Democratic attacks were hypocritical considering they knew of his memory troubles from the tumor.

“I can remember them running on an American disabilities [platform] wheeling people in wheelchairs and people that were having issues like I was having in and talking about how sacred that was to the Democratic Party. And hell, they’re mocking me?” he said. “It’s not right.”

Last month, reports noted that Campbell told Congress that Russian operatives involved in the Uranium One deal were convinced that Bill and Hillary Clinton could be manipulated into helping them “seal” the agreement with the Obama administration.

The Obama administration previously threatened Douglas Campbell and the DOJ under then-AG Loretta Lynch blocked him from testifying to Congress.
