Resistance: House Dems FIRST bill takes aim at POTUS Trump’s tax returns
(National Sentinel) Partisan: Democrats haven’t formally taken over control of the House yet but they’re already demonstrating the party is more interested in posturing on behalf of its extreme Left-wing base than governing.
On Friday, Democratic leaders said their first priority is getting their hands on POTUS Donald Trump’s tax returns, as though the country’s future depends on knowing what’s in them.
H.R. 1 would require all presidents to publicly disclose their tax returns, and while most have, POTUS Trump, a billionaire, decided not to before he took office.
“I think it’s important for our oversight to get those tax returns,” Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, said Friday, according to Fox News.
That’s not all. Other parts of the bill seek to impose more federal control over elections, pre-empting the [constitutional] role of states, according to The Associated Press reported. Democrats must be anticipating a day when they are in full control of the federal government, the power of which they can then use to steal elections at will.
In addition, the bill will also add new disclosure requirements for political contributions as well as impose an ethics code on the Supreme Court [the ‘Kavanaugh provision’?], and limit first-class travel for federal officials, The Washington Post reported.

“We must also empower hard-working Americans in our democracy by building a 21st-century campaign-finance system — combining small-donor incentives and matching support — to increase and multiply the power of small donors,” wrote incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Congressman John Sarbanes of Maryland in an Op-Ed published in The Washington Post.
“We have to have a government voters can trust, and this is the first step to building a government they can trust,” added incoming Democratic Congresswoman Veronica Escobar of Texas.
Wasn’t it the very unethical Bill Clinton who claimed ‘the most ethical administration’ in history?
And mind you, wasn’t it the very opaque Barack Obama who pledged the most transparent government in history?
If anyone needs an ethics code it’s Democrats, but we digress. There’s no way this bill makes it past the GOP-controlled Senate, let alone POTUS himself. But that’s not the point.
The notion that presidents deserve less privacy when it comes to their personal tax returns is a false construct of the D.C. Swamp. The fact that our current president refuses to divulge his taxes has become an obsession with the perpetually unhinged Left.
Knowing what POTUS Trump paid or did not pay in taxes in the past has zero bearing on whether he can be an effective leader. What’s more, if the president had cheated on his taxes in the past, the IRS would have been onto him a long time ago.
And let’s not forget that the Deep State most likely would have leaked any and all damaging tax information by now.
The very first piece of legislation from the new House Democrat majority proves again that the party is more interested in perpetual activism and placating an increasingly unhinged anti-Trump base rather than governing.
