Trump won’t say whether he has ‘tapes’

(National SentinelPolitical intrigue: In the wake of fired FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday, President Donald J. Trump accused him of lying under oath while remaining evasive over the question of whether or not “tapes” he mentioned in a tweet several weeks ago actually exist.

chief-organics-msm“He’s a leaker,” Trump said in the White House Rose Garden, during a news conference with the visiting Romanian president, as reported by Fox News. “Yesterday showed no collusion, no obstruction.”

During testimony, Comey implied that Trump fired him over his agency’s continued investigation into Russian election interference, but he stopped short of accusing Trump of obstruction of justice. Most constitutional experts who have spoken on that topic do not believe Trump’s alleged request that Comey end his probe into the president’s first national security advisor, Michael Flynn, rises to that level, as they note the president is head of the Executive Branch to which the FBI and Justice Department answer.

Fox News noted further:

The president also said he would not rule out his previous claims that there may be tapes of the conversation with Comey and told reporters, “Well, I’ll tell you about that maybe sometime in the very near future.”

He added: “Oh you’re going to be very disappointed when you hear the answer, don’t worry.”
