Trump warns: Mueller probe ‘should never have been started;’ launched from ‘bogus dossier’
(National Sentinel) Shot Across the Bow: In what some are viewing as a warning, President Donald J. Trump said in a series of Saturday night tweets that special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation was premised on false, misleading information and should never have begun.

The president’s tweets come a day after Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe just two days before he was set to collect his federal pension for 21 years of service, after Inspector General Michael Horowitz recommended his firing for lying to investigators reexamining the probe into Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified emails.
Also, Trump’s tweets come after his attorney, John Dowd, told The Daily Beast that the Mueller probe should now come to an end.
The president also took a shot at the “fake news media” for helping spread as-yet-unsubstantiated claims in the “Trump-Russia dossier” used to obtain a FISA court warrant to spy on a member of his 2016 campaign — a political opposition document paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Commitee.
“The Fake News is beside themselves that McCabe was caught, called out and fired. How many hundreds of thousands of dollars was given to wife’s campaign by Crooked H friend, Terry M, who was also under investigation? How many lies? How many leaks? Comey knew it all, and much more!” Trump wrote, also lashing out at former FBI Director James Comey, whom he fired for mishandling the Clinton investigation.
“The Mueller probe should never have been started in that there was no collusion and there was no crime. It was based on fraudulent activities and a Fake Dossier paid for by Crooked Hillary and the DNC, and improperly used in FISA COURT for surveillance of my campaign. WITCH HUNT!” Trump continued.

Comey on Saturday laid down a gauntlet of his own, hinting that his soon-to-be-released book will refute much of what Trump has said or claimed regarding his firing and their brief time together after Trump was inaugurated.
Comey has claimed that Trump put pressure on him to clear his first national security advisor, Michael Flynn, and to publicly exonerate him from any Russian collusion charges.
Former Trump chief of staff Reince Priebus has said that in February 2017, about a month after the new administration took over, he was visited by McCabe in the White House, who told him that a New York Times report claiming collusion was false and the FBI knew it was false.
Priebus said he asked why McCabe and the FBI would not publicly declare Trump’s innocence, but the following day a CNN report claimed that Priebus was pushing McCabe to make the announcement, saying nothing about McCabe’s admission that the bureau had no evidence of any collusion in the first place.
McCabe has pushed back on his firing, claiming it was politically motivated.
