Sessions will testify before Senate Intel Committee to refute Comey claims

(National SentinelCircus II: In the never-ending three-ring circus involving “Russia” this and “Russia” that on Capitol Hill, now Attorney General Jeff Sessions will be appearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday to refute some of what fired FBI Director James Comey testified to last week.

“In light of reports regarding Mr. Comey’s recent testimony before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, it is important that I have an opportunity to address these matters in the appropriate forum,” Sessions, a former long-serving U.S. senator and federal prosecutor, said in a letter to Sen. Richard Shelby, the Alabama Republican who chairs a Senate appropriations subcommittee.

As reported by Newsmax:

Sessions was scheduled to appear next week before Shelby’s subcommittee to discuss the Justice Department’s budget, but would instead send Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in his place.

He told Shelby that the Russia investigation would very likely be the focus of the Intelligence Committee’s questioning.

During the closed portion of his testimony, Comey reportedly told the intel panel that Sessions had a third, previously unreported, meeting with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during last year’s election.

Sessions, then a U.S. senator who was supporting and advising the Trump campaign at the alleged time of the meeting, obviously was required, under Alt-Left rules of the witch hunt, to stop representing the people of Alabama and to stop doing his job as a senator just because he was assisting a presidential contender (who nobody thought would win).

Sessions said during his confirmation hearings in January he had not met with Russians during the campaign, but whether he did or not isn’t really the point – the point is the context of any meetings, and thus far, once again, we’re seeing plenty of artificial smoke being generated…because there is no actual fire.

But Democrats will get another few days’ mileage out of this latest nothing burger, for sure, and with it more delaying of President Donald J. Trump’s agenda.
