Left WORRIED that Senate hearing on Parkland school shooting will NOT focus on NRA and instead on FBI, law enforcement

(National Sentinel) Pointing Fingers: Liberal news outlets are voicing concern that a Senate hearing focusing on events that led to the recent shootings at a Parkland, Fla., high school will focus more on failures of local law enforcement and the FBI rather than the nation’s foremost gun-rights group, the NRA.

“A Push for Gun Control Legislation Appears Dead in Congress. Again,” the Left-leaning Daily Beast news site reported.

“Meaningful reform on guns or “school safety” appears to be nearing a quiet death, just weeks after demands for action peaked following the Parkland shooting,” the web site noted.

“Sources on Capitol Hill now universally say they do not expect legislation—even the narrowed down variety—to pass, while senior officials at the White House appear committed to spotlighting the influence they suggest violent video games are having on our nation’s youth.”

The site noted further:

Frustration with the inertia bubbled over this week, sparking a round of finger-pointing over who exactly and which party is at fault. But the outcome should not have caught anyone by surprise. Doing nothing in the aftermath of a prior mass-shooting is a right of passage for Congress.

“Senate Republicans haven’t devoted one second to the gun safety debate on the Senate floor,” said Matt House, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s top spokesman. “That fact says everything about their willingness to buck the NRA and get something real done.”

Critics of that approach point out that the gun-rights group was not responsible for the Parkland shooting or any school shooting prior to it.

They further note that despite two tips provided to the FBI and several run-ins with local police involving alleged shooter Nikolas Cruz, nothing was done to intervene though clear warning signs were present.

“Local and federal authorities dropped the ball on the Parkland shooter. They are partially responsible for what happened,” reported The American Lookout.
