Kiss Obamacare repeal goodbye this year – and probably forever

(National SentinelHealthcare: Rarely are there such things as “slam dunks” in Washington when it comes to sure-fire passage of legislation, but the GOP pledge to repeal and replace Obamacare, which has essentially put the cost of health care coverage out of reach for tens of millions of Americans, was supposed to be a slam dunk.

“Give us the House and we’ll get it done!” Republicans first claimed. American voters gave them the House, and nothing was done.

“Give us the House and Senate and we’ll get it done!” Republicans then claimed. American voters gave Republicans full control over both chambers of Congress – and still, nothing got done.

“Give us the House, the Senate and the White House, and repeal/replace will be the first thing we do!” they cried before the 2016 elections. Americans did just that…

…and still, months into the current congressional cycle, we are burdened with Obamacare.

And now, according to a top U.S. senator, we the plebes should not expect any repeal-and-replacement of Obamacare this year.

“It’s unlikely that we will get a health-care deal,” Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina told WXII 12 News, a North Carolina news station, on Thursday, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. He said that the House-passed GOP health plan was “dead on arrival,” and that “I don’t see a comprehensive health-care plan this year.”

Why is that, senator? “Dead on arrival?” Really?

That is simply amazing, considering that the American Health Care Act that the GOP House barely passed was anything but a full repeal-and-replacement of Obamacare. In fact, the House bill managed to leave substantial portions of Obamacare intact, which was bad enough.

And even that isn’t enough for Republican senators who  to vote for?

That’s unacceptable, Sen. Burr. So is the fact that millions of families are paying monthly premiums of hundreds of dollars per month for “health insurance” that comes with deductibles that are so high, it’s really coverage in name only…thanks to Obamacare.

Worried about the CBO’s bogus assessment that the repeal plan will leave “23 million Americans without healthcare coverage?” There are already that many Americans – and more – without health care coverage, senator. What about them? Weren’t they supposed to be covered already?

This is BS, folks. These clowns promised us repeal and replacement of Obamacare, and we have every right to expect that. But if it doesn’t get done this year, there is a good chance it will never get done.

If this doesn’t prove once and for all that Americans need to clean house in D.C. and primary these fools, nothing will.
