Ivanka Trump: Prez focusing on ‘rebuilding infrastructure;’ D.C. ‘viciousness’ took her by surprise
(National Sentinel) Presidential politicking: First daughter Ivanka Trump, who serves as a special advisor to her father, President Donald J. Trump, dished on the “viciousness” of D.C., her father’s pro-growth agenda moving forward, and the fact that he feels “vindicated” following fired FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before the Senate last week.
Though it didn’t get as many headlines, Trump said what the president was focused on last week “will ultimately have a much more impact” on the country – “infrastructure week.”
She said the focus was “on the commitment to rebuild this country, rebuild rural locations which have fallen into great disrepair, repair our waterways, air traffic control.”
“So there were a series of very important and big, far-reaching initiatives on infrastructure,” she added during an appearance on Fox News‘ morning show, “Fox & Friends,” on Monday.
“This coming week is about workforce development,” she continued. “So with all the noise, with all the intensity of the media coverage” of last week ” and ultimately what makes headlines, we’re really focused on why the American people elected Donald Trump as their president, and implementing that plan.”
She said the president was heading to Wisconsin on Tuesday to visit young people attending a technical school, with the emphasis being on tech-school learning of trades and skills that will ultimately lead to higher-paying jobs. And it doesn’t hurt that Wisconsin happens to be a battleground state that Trump won, becoming the first GOP presidential nominee to do so since 1984.
The president wants to “really highlight the fact that there is a viable path other than a four-year college experience” to earn a good living, Ivanka Trump noted.
“There are six million available jobs” that required skilled workers, she said. “We’re constantly hearing from CEO’s that they have job openings, but they don’t have workers with the skill set they need to fill those jobs.”
The first daughter noted that her father believes “apprenticeship” – a reference to his former hit reality TV show, “The Apprentice” – is key to job success for millions of Americans moving forward, by filling the “skill gap” that currently exists.
In terms of the political environment in the nation’s capital, asked if her new role as her father’s special assistant was difficult, she answered: “It is hard. And there is a level of viciousness that I was not expecting.”
“‘I was not expecting the intensity of this experience, but this isn’t supposed to be easy. My father’s administration intends to be transformative, and we want to do big, bold things. We’re looking to change the status quo,” she added.
“So, I didn’t expect it to be easy. I think some of the distractions and some of the ferocity I was a little blind-sided by on a personal level,” Trump said.
She added that she was “trying to keep my head down” and tune out all of the noise – of which there is plenty – to focus on the tasks at hand, which she certainly wasn’t whining about.
“I mean, if you want to at the end of the day if you want to think about difficult, it’s the factory worker who has been laid off. Difficult is, you know, the mother who has lost a child to opioid abuse,” she said.

Ivanka also took some time to speak about last week’s appearance by James Comey in front of the Senate Intel Committee, revealing that her father felt ‘vindicated’ after hearing the former FBI director’s testimony and is now ‘incredibly optimistic’ about the future.
It’s important to note that Democrats are going to do all they can to keep this “Russia” business alive and well through at least the 2018 elections, with the hope of knocking off the GOP majorities in the House and Senate. Keeping the false narrative alive also means they will continue to serve as Trump’s chief opposition in getting his agenda implemented.
But as long as the economy continues to improve under Trump (and it is), and as long as he remains focused on his pro-growth agenda, most of these political shenanigans will fall on deaf ears and the president will sail to reelection.
The Democrats are overplaying their hand. Americans want this president to succeed more than they want him to fail, once again showing the major disconnect between “vicious” Washington and the rest of the country.
