I didn’t create it for Twitter: Man who introduced #hashtag

Chris Messina, who introduced the ‘#hashtag’, in a recent interview said, “I didn’t create this idea for Twitter.” He added that he created “this idea for the Internet” so that anybody who could write text on the Internet would be able to participate in global conversations. “I had no interest in making money off hashtags,” he had earlier said.
