Hannity fires back at Shepard Smith: ‘Uh, I break news too’

(National SentinelCorrection: Two Fox News personalities clashed somewhat on Thursday, with one accusing the other of engaging strictly in “opinion” on his program.

In an interview with Time magazine, Smith, who anchors the network’s prime-time straight news broadcast, said that some of his network’s programming is strictly for “entertainment.”

“Some of our opinion programming is there strictly to be entertaining,” Smith said in a piece titled, “Shep Smith Has the Hardest Job on Fox News.”

As noted by The Hill:

“We serve different masters,” Smith, 54, continued when discussing the difference between the opinion side of Fox News, including shows such as “The Sean Hannity Show,” and the network’s news division. “We work for different reporting chains, we have different rules. They don’t really have rules on the opinion side. They can say whatever they want. If it’s their opinion.”

Smith, whose interview comes as the network announced he has just signed a new multi-year contract, was lambasted by Hannity, who corrected his colleague about the kind of programming he does.

“While Shep is a friend with political views I do not share, and great at breaking news, he is clueless about what we do every day. Hannity breaks news daily-Warrant on a Trump assoc, the unmasking scandal, leaking intel, Fisa abuse, HRC lawbreaking, dossier and more REAL NEWS! 9p” Hannity tweeted.
