Baidu gets approval to test self-driving vehicles in China
China’s capital city Beijing has given approval to the country’s internet major Baidu to test self-driving cars on the streets. Baidu will be allowed to test its autonomous vehicles on 33 roads spanning around 105 kilometres in Beijing’s less-populated suburbs. This comes days after cab-hailing startup Uber’s self-driving car killed a woman who was crossing a street in the US.
