The Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline is the reason the Taliban rose to power. In the mid 1990s, Unocol began plans for an oil and a gas pipeline that would run from the Caspian Sea, through Afghanistan and Pakistan and finally to India. You know, the country where they are sending all our jobs. Unocol and the CIA helped to put the Taliban in power, thinking that the new regime would permit them to build the pipeline.

Intelligence “whistleblower” Julie Sirrs claimed that anti-Taliban leader Ahmad Shah Massoud told her he had “proof that Unocal had provided money that helped the Taliban take Kabul “. And French journalist Richard Labeviere said, referring to the later 1990s, “The CIA and Unocal’s security forces … provided military weapons and instructors to several Taliban militias.

Once in power, the Taliban failed to keep its part of the bargain. Since fucking with a U.S. corporation is grounds for death, Unocol petitioned the U.S. Congress to force the Taliban out and replace it with a regime that would uphold the good old fashioned American value of making money.

Taking pains to distance his new policy from the Vietnam trauma, Obama stressed, "Unlike Vietnam, the American people were viciously attacked from Afghanistan." Wrong. If the official narrative of 9/11 holds, the hijackers were trained in Western Europe and perfected their skills in the US.

The myth of al-Qaeda has to be exposed. How could al-Qaeda pull off 9/11 but be incapable of mounting a single significant attack inside Saudi Arabia? That's because al-Qaeda is essentially a thinly disguised brigade of Saudi intelligence. The US wants to win "the war on terror"? Why not send special forces to Saudi Arabia instead of Afghanistan and knock the Wahhabis - the root of it all - out of power?

The US blamed Al Qaeda for the 9/11 attack and this was why this particular area became their first priority. What President Bush didn't tell you is that he had already made plans to attack Afghanistan almost six months prior to 9/11 when he realised that the US backed Turkmenistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan - India (TAPI) could be in jeopardy. The US at the time were big friends of the Taliban and why not? When it comes to oil they would sell their soul! They had previously helped in training the Taliban during the Russian occupation and later realised that they would make good partner for a Joint Venture pipeline. As usual the US drove home a hard bargain and the Taliban rejected the deal. This immediately put the US on a war footing in order to secure this extremely lucrative deal that would bring trillions of dollars to the US economy over a long period of time when complete.

Is the US really after Al Qaeda or is this all about prolonging the war effort to retain troops in Afghanistan for a much longer period and at the same time give them the opportunity to secure the proposed pipeline route that has been delayed so many times before. The US has applied much pressure on this TAPI pipeline and has now declared that construction will start in 2010, hence the urgent surge in troop requirements to secure the route.
