Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are starting their life as a married couple after a night of celebrating their royal wedding with friends and family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent Saturday night at Windsor Castle after attending a reception at Frogmore House hosted by Prince Charles. The couple reportedly bid farewell to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip before heading to their home in Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace, Sky News reported.

The queen was photographed heading to church Sunday morning.

The newlyweds are breaking tradition and delaying their honeymoon. Harry and Markle will attend on Tuesday a garden party for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday patronage celebration.

The palace hasn’t released details about Harry and Markle’s honeymoon, but the couple are expected to head to Namibia or Botswana in southern Africa.

The royal family thanked everyone Saturday night for celebrating Harry and Markle’s big day.

"Thank you to everyone who came to Windsor and those who followed from around the UK, the Commonwealth, and the world today. Congratulations once again to the newly married Duke and Duchess of Sussex. #royalwedding,” the royal family tweeted.

Markle previously said she wants to “hit the ground running” after getting married to become a full-time member of the royal family. The couple exchanged vows in front of 600 guests, which included members of the royal family and celebrities, at St. George’s Chapel Saturday morning. About 100,000 people also came out to watch Harry and Markle during the carriage procession through Windsor.

An estimated 2 billion people also tuned in to watch the wedding ceremony on television.

One day after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot at their highly-publicized royal wedding, details are emerging about their intimate reception afterwards. Specifically, the song the royal couple chose to be the first one they danced to as husband and wife.

According to Us Weekly, the couple left their ceremony, where 600 people saw them wed, to a more intimate location at Windsor Castle in England. The event, hosted by the groom’s father, Prince Charles, began at 7 p.m. and reduced the royal guest list to about 200 closer friends. The outlet notes that this reception was different than the more subdued lunchtime one held by the queen, where Elton John performed.

With their guests able to let their hair down, the couple chose a more upbeat, albeit still loving, song as their first dance as a married pair. They opted for Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” according to E! News.

Markle changed into a second wedding dress that didn’t drag 16 feet, like her ceremonial dress, while her new husband ditched his royal uniform for a regular, but stylish, tuxedo for the big reception. They reportedly traveled to the party in an E-Type Jaguar modified with an electric engine so as to be environmentally friendly.

The evening capped off with a fireworks display in honor of the new couple, which was captured on Instagram by reporter Emily Nash. Guests reportedly left the party after midnight.

Amidst the staid decorum of British royal traditions at the Windor Castle wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Bishop Michael Curry’s rousing sermon on love was a welcome dose of modernity.

Curry, the first African-American leader of the Episcopal Church in the U.S., delivered a robust and impassioned call for love in all its forms that harnessed everything from the Civil Rights Movement and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to America’s history of slavery and the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The wedding address for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex clocked in at 14 minutes and Curry, with the cadences of a confident preacher and the enthusiasm of a man who cherishes his life’s work, took the guests — countless celebrities, fellow royals, regular Britons and millions watching globally — on a journey filled with emotion.

“We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love,” Curry said. “And when we discover that, we will be able to make of this old world a new world. Love is the only way.”

The bishop went on to explain that our lives are created in love, that God is love and that there is power in utilizing love to change the world. Curry’s energetic and powerful address was a far cry from typical, quiet British norms.

MEGHAN MARKLE, PRINCE HARRY BEGIN LIFE AS A MARRIED COUPLE

“Someone once said that Jesus began the most revolutionary movement in human history: a movement ground on the unconditional love of God for the world and a movement mandating people to live and love,” Curry explained.

The Episcopal leader reminded guests that in America, slaves would sing uplifting, hopeful spirituals, even amidst horrific circumstances. One was called “There Is a Balm in Gilead.”

As Curry put it: “One of the stanzas explains why: It says, if you cannot preach like Peter, you cannot pray like Paul, you just tell the love of Jesus, how he died to save us all. That’s the balm in Gilead. This way of love is the way of life. They got it.”

In a short time, Curry managed to weave together the romantic love of Harry and Meghan (“Two young people fell in love, and we all showed up”), Jesus’ love for the world ("He gave up his life, he sacrificed his life for the good of others, for the well-being of the world, for us,") and the power of love to remake the world ("When love is the way, we will let justice roll down like a mighty stream, and righteousness like an ever-flowing brook,").

Most wedding watchers on social media praised the speech — while the royals inside the 1,000-year-old chapel seemed to take it in with very British facial expressions.

In order to make of this “old world” something new, Curry said, we need to discover the redemptive power of love.

“When love is the way, poverty would become history. When love is the way, the earth will be a sanctuary. When love is the way, we will lay our swords and shields down by the riverside to study war no more. When love is the way, there’s plenty of room for all of God’s children.

Meghan Markle remembered the late Princess Diana on Saturday with her “something blue” on her wedding day.

The Duchess of Sussex wore an emerald-cut aquamarine ring that belonged to Prince Harry’s mother on her right finger as she left Windsor Castle for the evening reception at Frogmore House. Diana often wore the ring before her death in 1997. She was pictured with the jewelry at a gala dinner in Australia in 1996 and at an auction at Christie’s in 1997, People reported.

The ring also has a matching aquamarine bracelet.

Markle swapped her Givenchy wedding dress for a white Stella McCartney halter neck gown when heading to the evening reception hosted by Prince Charles. Harry, wearing a tightly fitted tuxedo, and Meghan arrived at the reception in a 1968 Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero that has since been converted to electric power.

The happy couple, who said “I do” Saturday morning at St. George’s Chapel, continued to celebrate the day with about 200 friends and family at night.

There were also sweet tributes to Diana, who died in a car crash in Paris, during the wedding ceremony. Markle’s bouquet included Diana’s favorite flowers, Forget-Me-Nots, that were handpicked by Harry before the ceremony. The flower arrangements at St. George's Chapel also included some of Diana’s favorite white flowers.

The royal family thanked fans late Saturday night for watching Harry and Markle’s wedding.

“Thank you to everyone who came to Windsor and those who followed from around the UK, the Commonwealth, and the world today. Congratulations once again to the newly-married Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” the royal family tweeted.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

One of the designers of the wedding dress worn by Princess Diana reportedly thought newly-married Meghan Markle “looked absolutely beautiful” in her gown, in a hat tip to the designer who made it.

Elizabeth Emanuel, who co-designed Princess Diana’s gown along with her then-husband, David, said the bride's dress for Saturday's nuptials was “classical and regal,” according to People magazine.

“It was absolutely plain and pure and elegant,” she told the outlet. “Past royal wedding gowns tend to be very classic and very traditional, and this wasn’t because it did not have all the lace and all the decoration and anything on it. It was a new kind of look, but still classical and regal.”

She added that the gown made a “really solid fashion statement.”

Markle donned a dress designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy for her royal nuptials with new hubby, Prince Harry, Kensington Palace said. The long-sleeve mermaid gown included a portrait neckline and lengthy train. She paired it with a veil adorned with lace and a tiara, which the Palace said was lent to her by Queen Elizabeth II and once belonged to Queen Mary.

Emanuel told People that she thinks the designer “should be pleased” with how the dress turned out and that she believes it “will be copied because it was so different.”

“Probably people will [be] thinking about having very long tulle trains as well,” Emanuel told the outlet. “It is a very soft net — you can get the crunchy net, which is one sort of look, or this very beautiful, almost like a jersey tulle that falls like a drape and it is very pretty.”

When stacked against the dresses worn by Princess Diana and Markle’s new sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, Emanuel told People that she noted some differences.

“It was very much of the 80s and would look unusual if it was out there now,” she told the outlet. “Whereas I think Kate and Meghan’s dresses would look perfect anytime.”

WINDSOR, England –  Meghan Markle wore a slinky bridal gown by Stella McCartney with a choker neckline that showed off her curves alongside her new husband, Prince Harry, who wore a black tuxedo, as they drove to their private reception.

The pair headed off in style to their 200-person evening reception at Frogmore House, riding to the party in a classic car.

“The couple traveled from Windsor Castle to Frogmore House in a silver blue Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero. This vehicle was originally manufactured in 1968, and has since been converted to electric power,” Kensington Palace revealed as the first photos of the couple heading to their reception emerged.

“The Bride's evening dress is designed by Stella McCartney and is a bespoke lily white high neck gown made of silk crepe. The bride is wearing shoes from Aquazurra made in silky satin, with nude mesh, with soles painted in baby blue. Ms. Markle's hair has been styled for the evening reception by George Northwood.”

The pair are now formally known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Earlier on Saturday, they got married in front of 600 guests at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Meghan is the first duchess of Sussex, though there has been a previous duke of Sussex.

At their wedding, the crowd included stars such as George and Amal Clooney, Sir Elton John and David and Victoria Beckham, as well as Meghan’s former “Suits” co-stars.

MEGHAN MARKLE AND PRINCE HARRY ARE MARRIED

Meghan's mom, Doria Ragland, was in attendance and got teary-eyed at the ceremony. Her father skipped the wedding after undergoing heart surgery following a series of scandals. Prince Charles, Harry's dad, walked Meghan part of the way down the aisle.

Like her sister-in-law, Kate, the duchess of Cambridge, Meghan dressed more casually for her evening reception in a less traditional gown. Meghan's second dress shows off her shoulders and her fit figure.

The American-actress-turned-royal wore a portrait neckline, long sleeve mermaid gown with a lengthy train by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy. She paired it with a veil adorned with lace and a tiara, lent to her by Queen Elizabeth II and once owned by Queen Mary. Prince Harry was in his military attire for the wedding.

Prince Harry wanted to share his special day with not only his new wife, Meghan Markle, but his late mother, Princess Diana. The sixth in line to throne decided to pay tribute to his mother in a few touching ways.

Markle made a royal statement when she first stepped out of her car and onto the steps of St. Georges Chapel. Moments later, the bride walked down the aisle, her 16 ft train flowing behind her, while holding a dainty bouquet of flowers.

According to reports, Harry helped his bride pick out her bouquet of flowers and in honor of his mother, they two decided on forget-me-nots, the late princess' favorite flower.

Then during the ceremony, as the wedding party sat down in the chapel, in the row where Harry's family sat, a first chair was left open. Following the open chair sat Prince William, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles and Kate Middleton.

Though Kensington Palace hasn't confirmed or denied why the seat next to Prince William, which is also the first seat in the royal row, was left open, it doesn't seem like a consequence that the royal seat was left empty.

But Harry isn't the only one who has honored Diana.

During Prince William's Westminster Abbey nuptials in 2011, he took his then fiancee, Kate Middleton, to visit his mother's grave before their wedding.

And of course, being the oldest son, William was able to pass down Diana's engagement ring from Prince Charles to Middleton.

During the time of their engagement, Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, said, “It’s very special to me."

Thousands of eager fans flocked to Windsor Castle this morning to witness the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. In fact, so many people lined the road to catch a glimpse of the newly married couple that famed British author J.K. Rowling decided to compare the royal wedding attendance to that of America's 2017 presidential inauguration.

On Saturday morning, during the highly-anticipated wedding of the year, the "Harry Potter" author tweeted out a picture of the Windsor wedding crowd and placed it beside a photo of the crowd at Donald Trump's inauguration in Washington, D.C.

Rowling tweeted the image and wrote, "Love > Hate."

Following Rowling's tweet, BBC Three mimicked the novelist and tweeted the same comparison photo of the royal wedding crowd and Trump's inauguration and said, "Just saying :)"

So far, the famous author's tweet has gained more than 40,000 likes and 8,000 retweets while the BBC Three tweet has gained more than 90,000 likes and 34,000 retweets.

Some Twitter users agreed with Rowling's tweet, apologizing to the British people for the American president.

Others defended Trump.

According to the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, more than 100,000 people visited Windsor for the royal wedding festivities.

For Trump’s inauguration, the current president reportedly had about 300,000 to 600,000 people attending his swearing-in ceremony, according to Vox.

And while Trump may have had more people at his inauguration than attended the royal wedding, it was Barack Obama who made history. In 2008, for the former president's first term, Obama brought in a reported 1.8 million people to the Mall.

According to the Washington Post, Obama's inaugural crowd may have been the largest Mall gathering in history.

A few guests at the royal wedding were targeted by social media users who compared their attire to drink cans.

Pippa Middleton, Kate Middleton’s sister who became famous for her tight white dress during her sister's wedding to Prince William, wore a green floral dress. However, some Twitter users pointed out Middleton’s dress was similar to the Arizona green tea can. Twitter users posted side-by-side photographs of Middleton’s mint dress and the can of green tea.

“Pippa’s dress looks like the Arizona iced tea can,” one social media user wrote.

“Pippa Middleton sponsored by Arizona,” another person tweeted.

Middleton was not the only one who drew attention on Twitter. The queen herself was not spared.

Social media users compared Queen Elizabeth II’s green outfit to a can of Anheuser-Busch’s Lime-A-Rita. The queen’s outfit was also accessorized with a hat of the same color.

Amal Clooney also drew attention for her bright yellow dress and matching hat. Some social media users compared her dress to a can of Anheuser-Busch’s Pine-Apple-Rita.

The archbishop’s robe was also compared to a can. Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby’s robe was likened to a can of lemon La Croix.

Meanwhile, Duchess Kate is catching heat on Twitter for her own outfit choice for the May 19 celebrations, as her pale yellow Alexander McQueen ensemble appears to photograph as white.

On Saturday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry married in a highly anticipated wedding that was viewed by people around the world.
