A woman running for Congress shared a video of herself on social media confronting a transgender woman at Denny’s for using the women’s bathroom.

Jazmina Saavedra, who’s running as a Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in California’s 44^th District, posted the video to her Facebook page Tuesday. The video shows her going into the women’s bathroom at the Los Angeles restaurant to confront someone in a stall.

“I’m trying to use the ladies room and there is a man here saying he’s a lady,” she tells the camera as she enters the bathroom.

The person inside the bathroom tells Saavedra what she’s doing is an invasion of privacy.

“You guys are harassing me. I’m just using the restroom and you are invading my privacy,” the guest says from inside the stall.

Saavedra leaves the bathroom but tells the person, “You violated my right. You are stupid, sick.”

“That guy violated my right to use the ladies’ room here. He’s saying he’s a lady. Stupid guy,” she tells the camera. "They put us in danger ... a woman like me trying to use the ladies' room with a man inside saying he's a lady."

A few minutes later, a Denny’s manager escorts the individual out of the bathroom and towards the restaurant exit as Saavedra continues to record.

She sits back down at the booth and explains how she wants everyone to know the “insane” things “really happening in California.

“I was with my pepper spray ready and I called the manager. He helped me,” Saavedra says.

“We need to stop those crazy people in power. We cannot allow those things…We need to respect woman and man separate,” she continues.

Denny’s released a statement Friday about the incident, saying they were “extremely disturbed,” but the video didn’t tell the whole story, explaining that the customer was removed from the bathroom because there had been “drug paraphernalia” on the floor, not because of gender identity.

“At Denny’s, we do not tolerate discrimination of any kind, inclusive of gender identity and sexual orientation.

“We are dedicated to providing a welcoming dining environment for all our guests and believe that our transgender guests and team members should be allowed to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with. Our restaurant teams attend training which covers our policies against discrimination and promotes respect for all guests.

“There is no place for discrimination of any kind in our restaurants. We do apologize to our transgender guest and others in the restaurant that had to endure another customer’s disrespectful behavior,” the statement read, per Advocate.

Saavedra told Refinery29 that allowing people to use whichever bathroom they choose puts her in danger. “Anyone can say he feels as a woman and go into the restroom and attack a woman. Why should I feel insecure because these people have a problem with their identity?” she said.

“I don’t know why the LGBT community is always trying to victimize themselves,” Saavedra said in a Facebook live video on Friday.

Saavedra’s opponent, Democratic Rep. Nanette Barragán, told Refinery29 she was “appalled” by the treatment the woman received for simply trying to use the restroom. “Everyone has the right to their own identity, and the right not to be discriminated against for who they are," she said.

Saavedra did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

The 14-year-old daughter became upset when the waitress told the woman to calm down, reportedly telling her to "stop talking to her mother like that," a police report states. Moments later, the girl punched the staffer in the face with a closed fist.

A BD’s manager quickly intervened, giving the rowdy clients the correct change before they exited the restaurant.

Glendale authorities soon located the pair and their vehicle. The mother told the police that she “should have walked away from the argument and been a better role model for her daughter,” the Sentinel reports.

The teen was cited for battery, and the mom was cited for disorderly conduct.

“What is wrong with people [?]” one commentator wrote on Facebook of the incident.

Days later, a woman named Ari's Zoña took to Facebook, claiming to be the BD's server who was assaulted. 

"I was the one who got punch in the face. The story isn't quite accurate except for bits and pieces of it," she said.

Ari's Zoña, who is 17, did not immediately return Fox News' request for comment.

An Oklahoma waitress received a shocking Mother's Day surprise when a customer left her two large tips.

Brenda Pearson was working at the 4 Star Diner in Roland on Sunday when David Platt ordered a cheeseburger to go. When he went to pay, he told Pearson he wanted to leave a $1,000 tip.

Platt said after talking with Pearson a bit, he thought she could use the money. "We talked about the Lord and about her life and her children. I got the impression that she was having a hard time of it, so I thought I'd just help her out a little bit," he told 5 News.

An hour later, Platt returned to the diner to order pie and left Pearson another $1,000 tip. "Money is just paper or numbers on a screen," Platt said. "Self-gratification only goes so far. So, when you're helping another person, you're adding something to the world. It's an investment and people, people are what's important."

Pearson said the money was a godsend and she plans to use it to get caught up on bills and help take care of her children and family.

The 22-year-old Trump supporter who was verbally attacked by the staff at a Miami Cheesecake Factory restaurant over his “Make America Great Again” hat described the moment as “just really wrong” in an interview on Wednesday's edition of “Fox and Friends.”

“They all started getting behind us, and one of the [workers] was saying, ‘I’ll knock the hat off his head, I’ll hit him so hard that I’ll knock his hat off,’" recalled Eugenior Joseph of Sunday’s incident.

“They were clenching their fists and standing behind me, trying to scare us and stuff ‘I wasn’t really intimidated by anything, but … it was just sad,” he said.

Joseph and his girlfriend’s family had been seated at a Miami location of the Cheesecake Factory on Mother’s Day when he said his girlfriend’s aunt first noticed some of the employees “making gestures” at him from over in a corner.

“I just turned around and looked at them. I didn’t say anything,” remembered Joseph. “I see that they’re staring at me, staring at my girlfriend’s family, trying to intimidate us … I just ignored the whole thing.”

Joseph said he turned back around and started looking at his phone, but soon a crowd of employees gathered behind him, and one began making the threatening comments described above.

“Mother’s Day was completely ruined. It’s just sad, the outcome, the way it happened.”

The Cheesecake Factory released a statement Tuesday apologizing for the behavior of its employees, and has since stated that two of the employees at the Dadeland Mall location were terminated over the incident.

“We are very disappointed to learn that two staff members made disparaging remarks about Mr. Joseph’s hat that made him and his family feel unwelcome,” said the restaurant in a statement shared with “Fox and Friends.” “As a result, those two employees are no longer employed with the company.”

Joseph, however, believes way more than two employees were involved. As Joseph recalled, at one point "a whole group of people came out of the kitchen" to jeer at him and his girlfriend when they returned from a trip to the restroom, "shouting and yelling and clapping and just saying things toward me."

"I could tell my girlfriend was really uncomfortable, it was just really wrong."

Witnesses who spoke with The Daily Wire earlier this week further claimed that up to a dozen employees were involved, some of whom had allegedly used the N-Word in reference to Joseph.

“It was a bigger number [than two],” he said.

Following Sunday's incident, Joseph says he will "definitely" not be returning to the restaurant, and he won't be parting with his Trump hat anytime soon, either.

“I love Donald Trump. He’s just what the country needs. He’s a true American" Joseph said. "People will say what they want about him — everybody’s entitled to their opinion, it’s a free country — [but] I think Donald Trump is everything we all need in this country.”

Above all, Joseph said he also hopes people will be more tolerant in the future.

“At the end of the day, this isn’t, to me, it isn’t about being black, white, or race — anybody could have worn the hat, a white man, a Latino man. It’s just about freedom of speech. This is America. Everybody should be entitled to their own opinions and their own beliefs. If somebody wants to wear the MAGA hat, you should support their decisions.

“Nobody should be disrespected, treated the way I was treated," he said.

A Dallas restaurant that was recently boycotted by the National Rifle Association donated $15,000 over the weekend to a gun reform organization.

The downtown brunch spot, Ellen’s, presented the check at a Mother’s Day ceremony to Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a group founded in 2012 after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The money was raised from donations and a portion of Ellen’s proceeds after the restaurant became embroiled in a battle with the NRA.

The controversy first began when customers in town for the NRA’s annual convention (May 4 - 6) became upset over a message Ellen’s owner, Joe Groves, printed on receipts about gun reform.

“A portion of this week’s proceeds will be donated to organizations dedicated to implementing reasonable and effective gun regulations that protect citizens’ Second Amendment rights and also help reduce needless gun violence. Welcome to Dallas!” the message read.

Within hours of the message being placed on receipts, it caught the NRA’s attention and quickly went viral on social media, Ellen’s said in a press release.

“Over the next four days, the restaurant received thousands of social media post comments, multiple threats, fake reviews, prank phone calls, and visits from individuals who stood outside the restaurant to discourage people from dining there. Yet, the positive response to the boycott was far greater, with an outpouring of support in the form of patronage, verbal and written comments of support, and, importantly, in the form of donations to the cause,” the restaurant’s statement read.

Grant Stinchfield, an NRA TV host, said the message was deeply offensive to gun owners and threatens their rights.

"It really felt like we were spit in the face," Stinchfield said. "Anybody that's in and around guns knows that when you see someone say, 'We're just for reasonable for gun regulations,' you better run the other way as fast as you can because that actually means they're a gun hater."

The Cheesecake Factory is investigating an incident at one of its Miami locations after a black customer claims he was verbally attacked by staff over his “Make America Great Again” hat, The Daily Wire reports.

Eugenior Joseph, 22, was reportedly dining with his girlfriend’s family at the Dadeland Mall location of the restaurant on Mother’s Day. His MAGA hat allegedly drew the attention of a female staff member, who gathered her co-workers to confront him, a witness told the site. The witness further claimed about a dozen of those employees circled his table, pointing fingers.

"So then all the employees started standing there, saying things out loud, like, 'I'm going to knock his head in so hard his hat's going to come off," the source said.

Other witnesses for The Daily Wire said some employees used the n-word in reference to Joseph when speaking among themselves, while another brandished his fists.

Joseph himself told The Daily Wire that one employee stood behind him, "balling his fists, smacking his fists, trying to scare me."

At one point, Joseph claims he and his girlfriend got up to use the restroom and, upon exiting, were greeted by the employees, who were “clapping and yelling, and just screaming things at me.”

The kitchen staff also allegedly booed him as he walked by.

Joseph and his girlfriend’s family eventually left the restaurant, only to run into police waiting outside, the report says. It is unclear who called the police to the restaurant. Witnesses say the officers did not file any charges against the restaurant or employees.

The Daily Wire claims to have viewed footage and photographs that confirm the witnesses' reports. The site also says the footage shows one young girl crying inside the restaurant, as well as Joseph's girlfriend's family speaking with multiple police officers who arrived at the restaurant.

The Cheesecake Factory has since released a statement regarding the incident.

"No guest should ever feel unwelcomed in one of our restaurants and we are taking this matter very seriously," reads a statement obtained by Fox News. "Upon learning of this incident, we immediately apologized to the guests in person. The individuals involved in the incident have been suspended pending the results of our investigation."

The Cheesecake Factory also issued the same statement in a Twitter response to Ann Coulter.

EX-CHIPOTLE MANAGER, ACCUSED OF STEALING $626, AWARDED NEARLY $8 MILLION

News of the Miami incident follows similar allegations of patrons at dining or drinking establishments facing harassment over their MAGA hats. In January 2017, Philadelphia native Greg Piatek claims he was refused service and removed from a New York City bar for wearing his MAGA hat. Meanwhile, the bar — called The Happiest Hour — maintained that Piatek was never removed from the establishment, and actually left a $36 tip upon leaving of his own accord.

A judge in Manhattan later ruled that the bar would be within its right to refuse service based on political differences, as the law does not protect against such discrimination.

A restaurant in California is making waves for its firm stance on children: Those crying or making loud noises are not allowed in the dining room.

Old Fisherman’s Grotto in Monterey has been in business since 1950 and is known for its quiet dining atmosphere, owner Chris Shake says. However, to ensure that the fine-dining establishment stays that way, the Grotto posted a sign outside the restaurant.

The sign reads, “No strollers, no high chairs, no booster chairs. Children crying or making loud noises are a distraction to other diners, and as such are not allowed in the dining room.”

FAMILY ‘HORRIFIED’ BY ‘POLITE NOTICE’ RESTAURANT STAFF HANDS OUT

Though Shake points out the policy — and the sign — have been in place for years, it has recently been gaining attention because of a posting on social media.

"Whoa. I’ve never seen this before. I’m canceling my reservation at the restaurant after seeing this picture on Yelp — and I will not even have my toddler,” Angela Espinoza wrote in a Facebook group for Bay Area moms, Fox 11 reported.

On Yelp, the restaurant has pulled mixed reviews, with some criticizing the move as “discriminatory" and others praising the restaurant for its strong stance.

“No kids sign I saw is the sole reason this should be 0 [stars]. I don't care if the owners do charity and give to the community. People seem to think charity gives them an excuse to do whatever they want — it's quite two faced to be discriminatory while pretending you're actually a bedrock of the community. Wish I had noticed this sign earlier bc I never would have spent $ here,” one reviewer wrote on Yelp.

“At one point, another waitress told us people were complaining about our kids and could they be quiet. I've never been told to hush my kids before. When I made a comment to the waitress she told me there was a sign outside with rules for children... They are apparently not joking. She was not just unapologetic but incredibly rude about the whole incident," another customer wrote.

Many, however, are in favor of the bold policy.

“I support your child-free/no screaming kids policy! The irony of these self-centered parents complaining is that THEY are the reason this exists in the first place. EVERYONE is tired of having their meal ruined by a screaming kid and apathetic, inconsiderate, indignant parents who refuse to do anything about it,” one wrote on Yelp.

Another Yelp user wrote, “No strollers, no boosters, no high chairs. This is what got me to go into this restaurant! Just the thought that I would be able to have a peaceful meal with no kids yelling, sometimes it's needed. In all seriousness people need to not get so hurt by this. There was (sic) definitely kids inside the restaurant when we dined in."

Shake, who is unapologetic about the rules for children, told Fox 11 it actually helps his business and points out that it’s not anti-children.

"We have many families who dine with us with their children who are well-behaved and understand our policy with respect to other diners. What we have found on those who write negative reviews about our policy are those who have not dined here but become offended by the sign and our policy," he said. 

Shake also said the sign is not discriminatory to anyone and consulted with an attorney when drafting it to ensure the language was appropriate.

The former manager of a California Chipotle Mexican Grill who was accused of stealing more than $600 was awarded nearly $8 million for wrongful termination Thursday.

Jeanette Ortiz was accused in 2015 of stealing $626 in cash from a save at the Fresno restaurant. Ortiz’s bosses claimed the theft was caught on camera, but she was never shown the video because her bosses told her the evidence had been destroyed.

Ortiz filed a wrongful termination suit after she was let go. A California jury ordered the restaurant to pay Ortiz $7.97 million in damages, according to the Fresno Bee.

The jury ruled Ortiz was a victim of a scheme to defame her for filing a worker’s compensation claim for a job-related wrist injury caused by carpal tunnel syndrome, the newspaper reported.

The jury deliberated for about four hours before a verdict was reached. Jurors awarded Ortiz $6 million for emotional distress and $1.97 million for loss of wages, according to the Bee.

A Chipotle spokeswoman declined to comment on the panel’s decision.

A video showing a North Carolina police officer choke a man wearing prom attire outside of a Waffle House — and then wrestle him to the ground — has gone viral and prompted an investigation into the incident by Warsaw police.

The incident took place at the Waffle House in Warsaw on Saturday. Twenty-two-year-old Anthony Wall had taken his 16-year-old sister to her prom and went to the restaurant chain afterward to grab a bite to eat.

While at the Waffle House, Wall said he got into an argument with several staff members and the police were called. It is not reported what the argument was about.

The police arrived on the scene and took the man outside.

In the video, which has been seen over half a million times, a police officer grabs Wall by the neck and chokes him against the restaurant window before throwing him to the ground and arresting him.

It is unclear what happened when police arrived, before the physical altercation.

Wall was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, ABC 11 reported.

"I was pretty much trying to scream for air and trying to breathe because he was holding my throat and that's when I got aggressive with him because [he was] choking me," said Wall.

Wall told ABC 11 he takes full responsibility for the negative interaction with the Waffle House employees, but does not feel the cops' actions were justified because his hands were in the air while the officer choked him.

"Your hands should have never been around my neck like that if my hands were in the air," said Wall.

Police Chief Eric Southerland released the following statement to ABC11:

"We are currently investigating the whole incident, interviewing witnesses and gathering additional video. We have also reached out to the District Attorney's Office to make him aware of the investigation. Once the investigation is complete and the District Attorney has had a chance to review the case we will provide the public with an update on the findings."

To the News & Observer, Chief Southerland said he wished people would “not let one situation create any additional situations,” but said the officers' behavior in the video does not reflect what Warsaw officers are trained to do in such situations.

"It's not what you're trained to do in incidents like this, but when you're dealing with someone fighting and resisting against an officer, you try to use proper tactics and go for one move, but that might not work because that person is moving or the officer is moving," Southerland said. "In real-versus-training situations, moves don't always work out like you want them to."

In a statement to Fox News, Waffle House said it is working with police and also investigating the incident.

“Initial reports say the customer became agitated, and the police were called. In an interview with WTVD-TV in Raleigh, NC, Mr. Wall said he took things too far with our employees. We continue to cooperate with the local authorities in their investigation.”

Fox News has reached out to the Warsaw Police Department and Anthony Wall; they have yet to respond to requests for comment.

Recently there have been reports of millennials killing the casual family dining industry. But the CEO of Dine Brands, parent company of Applebee’s, says that’s not true.

“I'd like to put to rest false news about the death of casual family dining and the abandonment by millennials of the categories,” said Stephen Joyce said during a conference call last week, Food News Feed is reporting.

APPLEBEE’S GIVES UP ON APPEALING TO MILLENNIALS

According to Joyce, millennials are actually driving the restaurant’s growth — he claims guests under the age of 34 make up the largest percentage of customers at Applebee’s. “And the last time I looked, those are millennials,” he added.

Applebee’s data revealed only 26.4 percent of Applebee’s customers are Baby Boomers, 28.3 percent Gen X and 15 percent Gen Z. Millennials account for 29 percent of customers — a larger percentage than any of the other generations.

The news that Applebee’s has experienced its second consecutive quarter of positive sales and traffic comes at a time when people have been counting casual restaurant chains out.

“When you look at the alternatives out there in the marketplace today and who's creating buzz and creating excitement, it's gone away from chain casual dining," John Antioco, the former CEO of TGI Fridays, told Business Insider last year.

Applebee’s attributes its success to being more aware of “guest feedback on our menus” and taking “opportunities to differentiate ourselves from the competition,” Joyce said.

The chain also shuttered 26 underperforming stores in the quarter, adding to their numbers' growth.

A waitress at a restaurant in Chelsea, Mass. was stabbed by a man who tried to dine and dash.

The waitress, who is identified as a 34-year-old woman, was working at Las Pupusas Del Chino at 11 pm and chased after the patron after he ran out on his restaurant tab. The woman confronted the thief at his vehicle.

According to Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes, once the woman got to the suspect’s vehicle, he pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the neck and cut her right hand.

“She suffered two serious slash wounds -- one to her neck and one to her wrist,” said Chelsea police Capt. Keith Houghton to WCVB.

The woman was found bleeding about a block away, WCVB reported.

“Everything just happened all of a sudden. When I walked up to the front, they said she's running to this customer. He went without paying. And so, that's when I came out,” said restaurant manager Gilberdo Ramos, who arrived on scene as emergency crew was placing the woman into the ambulance, the news site reported.

The woman was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and treated for non-life threatening injuries. She was later released, according to reports.

Ramos told WCVB the woman is one of his best servers and has worked for him for two years.

“[The servers] just probably got tired of people just running out without paying, you know? We get that a lot. But until now, we've never had any problems like that,” he said.

It is unclear how much the man’s bill was.
