At least 31 people were injured Friday after two buses collided near the entrance of the Lincoln Tunnel in Manhattan, the New York City Fire Department confirmed to Fox News. 

The two New Jersey Transit buses struck each other at the Manhattan-side entrance of the tunnel, according to FOX 5 New York. 

FDNY said most of the injuries were minor and that the crash happened around 10 a.m. 

The Lincoln Tunnel, which connects New York City with New Jersey, is a key transportation route for commuters heading into the city to work.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which manages the tunnel, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Associated Press.

Traffic was backed up midday Friday as officials were investigating the scene.

The woman who plunged to her death Friday along with her 7-year-old child after apparently jumping off the balcony of a New York City penthouse hotel suite has been identified as former Playboy centerfold model Stephanie Adams.

Police told Fox News that the woman and the child were both found dead after falling from the Gotham Hotel, located in Midtown Manhattan.

Law enforcement officials that spoke to the Associated Press identified her as Adams, a 47-year-old model who had been locked in a bitter custody dispute with her estranged husband over their son, Vincent. The officials said police had been called to their home several times in the past few months.

A lawyer representing Charles Nicolai had recently demanded that she hand over his son's passport, sources also told the New York Post.

The newspaper previously reported that Adams would meet Nicolai at a police precinct for handovers of their child.

“It ensures no violence takes place," a friend of Adams had told the New York Post in March.

Police have not publically identified the woman and child, pending notification to next of kin.

The incident Friday was reported around 8:30 a.m. EST. The woman and child landed on the hotel's second-floor balcony and died of their injuries.

Police said a witness told them that they “heard two loud noises” before the bodies were discovered and that the pair had checked into the hotel around 6 p.m. Thursday.

A hotel employee who works at a restaurant in the building told Fox News the woman and child fell from the 25th floor, the penthouse, in the back of the building.

Witnesses at the scene told Fox News that the situation was "very confusing.”

Gotham Hotel officials also told Fox News that the police were investigating the situation and refused to comment further. A medical examiner was called to the scene and police were looking to determine whether the woman had a history of mental illness.

The Gotham Hotel is about four blocks from Grand Central Terminal, and has 67 rooms over 25 floors. Rooms go for about $220 a night, according to the website.

Elsewhere in court, Adams had successfully sued the city’s police department for a $1.2 million jury award following a 2006 incident in which she was thrown to the ground by an officer who claimed she had drawn a firearm on him.

Adams and Nicolai, in 2013, also were sued by a former massage therapist who worked at the chiropractic office Nicolai owns.

Dilek Edwards, in the lawsuit, claimed she was illegally let go from the job because Nicolai told her his wife “might become jealous” of her “too cute” looks.

“You are NOT welcome any longer at Wall Street Chiropractic, DO NOT ever step foot in there again, and stay the F--- away from my husband and family!!!!!!!” Edwards claims she was told by Adams in an early morning text message.

The suit was eventually tossed but an appeals court last year restored it, ruling that Edwards could sue for gender discrimination, the New York Post reported.

The New York City lawyer caught on video this week launching a racially-charged tirade against Spanish-speaking restaurant workers is facing legal complaints from elected officials and has been booted from his office as his whirlwind fall from grace continues Friday.

Aaron Schlossberg, who has been continuously denounced on the Internet since the footage emerged Wednesday, also has been panned by fellow lawyers over the clip in which he is heard threatening to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement to have workers at the Manhattan eatery “kicked out of my country.

“I was taken aback that he would have the balls to come to court in front of all of his colleagues after his crazy outburst,” one attorney told the New York Post Thursday at the Supreme Court in Long Island City, where Schlossberg appeared.

But before even showing up Thursday, Schlossberg -- who apparently had a penchant for giving people an earful in public, according to numerous videos that have surfaced purportedly showing him yelling elsewhere – was filmed hiding behind an umbrella after reporters confronted him outside his apartment.

“Why you running man, you don’t want to stand by what you said?” a reporter is heard asking the lawyer, who has not made any public statements following the incident.

“I think it’s all men,” Schlossberg is then heard saying into a cellphone while pressing himself up against the window of a building. “They are yelling, they are claiming things they aren’t true. They are grabbing my personal items.”

“We’re claiming things that aren’t true? You mean we are only talking about what you said yesterday that was on videotape,” the reporter responds. “We did not grab you once sir.”

Schlossberg – who on Thursday was kicked out of the business center on 275 Madison Ave. that housed his office – is also at the center of a pair of formal complaints that Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.) and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. filed with the state’s court system.

“Racism and hatred have no place in New York State, and certainly no place in our justice system," Diaz Jr. said in a statement. "I stand with Congressman Espaillat in calling for the disciplinary committee of the New York State Unified Court System to examine the attorney identified as Aaron Schlossberg's reprehensible behavior and review his law license for possible revocation."

The lawyer appeared in Long Island City, a neighborhood in the Queens borough, to represent medical clinic Aimes Enterprises Inc.

Its chief, Tom Major, told the New York Post on Thursday that he was unaware of Schlossberg’s viral tirade.

“This is the first time I’m aware of something like this,” he said, when asked to comment on the clip.

Another one of his reported clients, real estate investor and film producer Todd Courtney, also said to the newspaper that he hasn’t seen the clip.

But a former client said Schlossberg turned sour on him after switching attorneys during the middle of a lease dispute last September.

“When we stopped working [with him], he start screaming and all this stuff,” Gennadiy Kosyakovskiy told the New York Post.

The former New York City police officer infamously dubbed the “Cannibal Cop” is giving up a custody battle for his daughter due to mounting legal fees and after comments from his ex-wife that “there is a risk that Josephine may someday become a victim.”

Gilberto Valle, who was acquitted and released from prison in 2014 after being convicted two years earlier on charges he planned to kidnap and eat women, told the New York Daily News his now 6-year-old daughter “has no idea who I am.”

Kathleen Mangan, Valle's former wife, wants to keep it that way.

"Josephine is a young girl, who will someday become a woman,” Mangan was quoted as saying in court papers. “Gilberto's 'fantasies' and involvement in these chat rooms puts Josephine at risk and given his affinity to fantasize about women close to him, there is a risk that Josephine may someday become a victim.”

Valle gave Mangan full custody of their daughter while he was ensnared in the cannibalism fantasy case. Following his exoneration, he filed court papers in Nevada -- where Mangan now lives -- seeking visitation with his daughter. But Valle decided to drop the case last month after a judge told him he must pay his ex-wife’s attorney fees, the Daily News reported late Sunday. Valle admitted to spending $50,000 so far on the legal battle, and said he couldn’t afford any more.

"I've been completely cleared but that doesn't mean my life is back to normal,” Valle said. “This is going to stick with me for the rest of my life."

He added: "I argued it's in the child's best interest to have a father. Kathleen argued, 'He might murder my daughter.' I don't think she really thinks that."

The newspaper said Mangan and her lawyer are not responding to requests for comment.

"We have great concern that Ms. Mangan will be forced into a co-parenting relationship with a man who will continue to traumatize her through his very public persona as the 'Cannibal Cop,'" her attorney had previously written in court papers.

Valle, who now reportedly works in construction, recently published his first book, “A Gathering of Evil.” The book's Amazon description says the story follows two young New York women as they are targeted by “a group of wealthy and violent sadists” who crave to “kidnap a young woman and brutally end her life."

A New York City music teacher who went missing about a week ago was found dead Saturday in a wooded area in upstate New York near a hiking trail, police said.  

The body of Keith Johnson, 46, of Queens, was found in a wooded area in Shandaken, a town in Ulster County, police said, adding that the investigation is ongoing. A law enforcement official told Fox News on Sunday that his death did not appear overtly suspicious, and he might have died of natural causes.

Shandaken Police Department did not immediately return Fox News’ request for comment.

Johnson was reported missing after family, friends and colleagues didn’t hear from the teacher for days. He was seen on May 4 around 2:20 p.m. at P.S. 29 Queens School, where he worked in College Point, police said. Johnson’s car, a 2006 Hyundai Elantra, was spotted the next day driving over the outbound lanes of Throgs Neck Bridge around 10:30 a.m.

Family members told CBSNewYork it was unusual not to hear from Johnson for days. Johnson, who is an avid hiker, also did not have a known history of drug abuse or mental illness.

“He’s highly responsible, highly loved by his students,” Johnson’s friend Brian Kastan said. “He loves his students, he’s a great guy and that’s why people are looking for him.”

Johnson’s neighbor, Ken Achan, told CBS he had bumped into the 46-year-old teacher outside their apartment building the day he went missing. Achan recalled Johnson saying he was leaving New York City for a short trip.

“He told me he left a lot of food out for the cats and not to worry for crying that he’s going camping,” he said.

Police found Johnson’s car Saturday afternoon near a hiking trail. His body was located shortly after.
