Four teenagers were killed in a violent car crash on Saturday that left a vehicle torn to pieces after flipping over and striking a tree south of Boston, officials said.

The crash happened around 4 p.m. in East Bridgewater, located 30 miles south of Boston, when the white sedan flipped over and crashed into a tree in the front yard of a home.

"Three people had been pronounced dead at the scene, one person was taken to the Brockton hospital and was pronounced dead there," Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz told Boston 25 News.

A fifth victim was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition, according to Cruz. All of the victims were young men in their late teens, he added.

Authorities had to use multiple sets of the Jaws of Life extraction tool to remove the teenagers from the crumpled vehicle, according to The Enterprise newspaper.

Neighbors in the area where the crash took place told Boston 25 News they never witnessed a crash as severe as the one on Saturday.

"It's awful, the poor families, that car is destroyed and there's nothing left of it at all," Aaron Bill said. "I felt sorrow for all the families that lost everything that happened, and I'm just hoping it’s no one I know really, cause I don’t know yet."

Authorities are now investigating if speed and the rain may have been contributing factors in the deadly crash. Investigators still haven't confirmed how fast the car was going, and were working on Saturday to reconstruct the accident scene.

"It’s scary, I feel bad for their families and for the people, their friends," neighbor Jessica Kehoe told Boston 25 News.

Massachusetts police are on the hunt Friday for a mystery bicyclist believed to have stabbed an 82-year-old man multiple times before pedaling away.

The victim was found bleeding from the side of the neck and his lower back around 6 p.m. Thursday on Commercial Street in Provincetown, a popular travel destination on the northern tip of Cape Cod.

The man – who told police the bicyclist rode off after attacking him -- was taken to Cape Cod Hospital and is expected to survive. It was not clear what provoked the attack, but the bike has been found.

Provincetown police released a surveillance image of the bicyclist and are hoping the man’s blue shoes will help the public identify him.

A Massachusetts man was arrested on Tuesday after he led police on a car chase … with his 81-year-old grandmother in the vehicle.

Patrick Laubenstein, 27, was charged with abuse/neglect of an elderly person and failure to stop for police after officials say he allegedly tried to take money from his grandmother’s bank account, ultimately leading to a police chase.

Randolph police say that they received a call about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday from an employee at Envision Bank who claimed a man was attempting to withdraw $1,000 from an account belonging to his grandmother.

Before going to the bank, Laubenstein picked up his grandmother from a nursing home “in an alleged attempt to have her take money out,” police said in a statement.

The bank alerted the authorities and refused to give the money to Laubenstein, who had gone through the bank’s drive-thru. He took off before police arrived.

Police were able to locate Laubenstein but he refused to pull over. During the pursuit, authorities learned that the suspect’s 81-year-old grandmother was in the car. The chase was immediately called off.

Laubenstein was eventually arrested at his friend’s home, where police say the elderly woman was “located safely outside,” along with the vehicle used in the chase.

This isn’t the first time Laubenstein has been accused of trying to take money from a family member. He was charged in 2017 with stealing his sister’s checkbook and forging checks, WFXT reported.

According to his attorney, Laubenstein’s grandmother wanted to give him the money.

He was arraigned on Wednesday and his bail was set at $7,500 cash.
