Before she plunged from a New York City hotel on Friday with her 7-year-old son, former Playboy centerfold Stephanie Adams endured years mired in lawsuits, failed relationships and an ugly custody dispute. 

Sources told the The New York Post the 46-year-old was in the middle of a fierce court battle with her estranged husband Charles Nicolai, the owner of Wall Street Chiropractic & Wellness.

Adams filed for divorce from Nicolai in 2017 and was seeking child support from him. At the time of her death, Adams reportedly owed money to her lawyers for her ongoing custody battle.

The relationship between the former couple was allegedly so toxic Adams was required to meet at the NYPD’s 1st Precinct for handovers of their son, Vincent.

“It ensures no violence takes place,” claimed a friend.

The New York Post's Richard Johnson revealed on Friday that Adams was distraught because she couldn't take her son to Europe for the summer.

Adams and Nicolai were in Manhattan Supreme Court Wednesday morning when the model asked the judge for permission to take Vincent to Spain. Her boyfriend, who reportedly lives in Spain, also owns a home in London.

Nicolai fought against the getaway and ultimately a judge sided with the father. Adams was then ordered to turn over Vincent's passport, the Post reported.

"All I want to do is take my son and get away from this nightmare for a few days," Adams told Johnson on Thursday. "But they won't let me."

In 2013, the couple was sued by Dilek Edwards, a former massage therapist at Nicolai's practice who claimed she was fired after her boss admitted Adams would get jealous because Edwards was “too cute.”

Edwards told the Post she would receive “frantic” text messages from Adams that read, “You are NOT welcome any longer at Wall Street Chiropractic, DO NOT ever step foot in there again, and stay the F--- away from my husband and family!!!!!! And remember I warned you.”

The 32-year-old claimed her relationship with Nicolai was “purely professional” and she had no clue what sparked Adams’ “absurd suspicions.” However, Edwards claimed Nicolai said their sessions “had to be a secret” because “if his wife hears about it, she can create some scenarios.”

At the time, Adams denied the allegations.

“No disrespect to anyone — but I’m a centerfold,” she said.

And just a year before, Adams received $1.2 million after she successfully sued the NYPD.

The model claimed in court that in 2006 she was manhandled by police, which resulted in injuries.

The New York Daily News reported Adams said police threw her to the ground at gunpoint after a confrontation with taxi driver Erik Darko, who falsely claimed she “flashed vampire teeth” and was going to shoot him. Consequently, Adams argued with the driver after he refused to carry her clothing into her apartment.

Sergeant John Rajan testified in court, “We didn’t know if she had a firearm.” However, he admitted she “was wearing tight-fitting clothing, and there was no place to conceal a weapon.”

The pinup, who claimed to be a direct descendant of U.S. presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams, revealed on her website she was raised by her aunts, two former models.

By age 16, Adams said she was convinced to also pursue the fashion world.

Adams, who claimed she was first signed to Wilhelmina Models and then Elite, had her photos submitted to Playboy by a photographer with her permission "for fun."

She accepted an offer to appear at the Playboy Mansion, noting it’s “every bad girl’s dream and every good girl’s fantasy.” She then chose to pose for the magazine and was featured as “Miss November 1992.”

A rep for the men’s lifestyle magazine told Fox News they were not going to comment. 

When Adams appeared in Playboy, she declared herself the first openly lesbian Playmate. However, her site noted she allegedly dated Elite’s founder John Casablancas, Calvin Klein supermodel Ted Stephenson and “other prominent New York City men, including famous ones, such as Robert De Niro.”

She also claimed to have “married an Italian investment banker, whom she subsequently divorced.”

“I joked with my lawyer that I started out single and gay and at the end of the lawsuit, I ended up straight and married,” she told the New York Post in 2012.

She added that her marriage to Nicolai at the time didn’t stop her from supporting gay and lesbian causes.

“I still identify myself as LGBT,” she said.

The publication added she and Nicolai met on Match.com. In 2009, they were engaged.

“We felt like we were soul mates right from the beginning,” she said.

Adams’ site revealed that after her aunt passed away in 2003, she quit modeling full time and dedicated her time to writing and running GODDESSY, a New Age company that offered astrology and metaphysical books.

In 2014, Adams told Urbasm she was a “wickedly accurate sharp shooter” and allegedly trained with “Special Forces, Secret Service and Navy Seals.”

“I prefer shooting to shopping and — although I might look girly, I am far from it,” she said. “As far as anything else; well, as much as there is written about me, there is so much more to me.

"No one truly knows me but my family and I often surprise them once in a while. Mystery and controversy have always stood guard beside me, seldom allowing folks to get close enough to know more about me and I kind of like that, so let’s stop there.”

Margot Kidder was reportedly found dead Sunday by a friend who stopped by the “Superman” star’s Montana home to help her clean.

Bruce Becker, a Montana County attorney, told the New York Daily News a friend found Kidder lying on her couch at her Livingston home, unresponsive.

"It was a friend helping her clean her house. She found Margot on the couch, and she went over to talk to her and found her dead," Becker told the newspaper.

An autopsy was conducted but the results will not be available for a couple of weeks, Becker told the Daily News. The cause of death was not immediately clear.

"We're awaiting the results. The toxicology takes a couple weeks," he said. "Foul play is not considered involved."

Kidder, who was best known for her role as Lois Lane in the “Superman” films in the 1970s, died at 69.

She starred opposite Christopher Reeve in "Superman" and three sequels. She continued to act in many movies and TV shows, most recently the 2017 film "The Neighborhood." According to IMDB, she had roles in two upcoming films that are currently in pre-production.

“I can’t believe she’s going,” Valerie Perrine, Kidder’s “Superman” co-star told the New York outlet. "It was so easy working with her. She hit her marks. She knew her dialogue. And she was kind. She was my friend."

Behind the scenes, Kidder battled bipolar disorder and was homeless for a short time in 1996. That same year, Kidder was working on her autobiography when her computer was infected by a virus causing her to lose all of her files. She became paranoid and disappeared for four days until she was found in a stranger's backyard and taken to Olive View Medical Center by police.

Kidder told People during the time she ran away she was almost raped by a homeless man who attacked her and knocked out the caps on her teeth.

Tom Wolfe, the author of such legendary novels as "Bonfire of the Vanities," "The Right Stuff" and "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test," died Monday after being hospitalized for an infection, his agent told the Wall Street Journal. He was 88.

Wolfe’s agent Lynn Nesbit told The Wall Street Journal he died of pneumonia in a New York hospital on Monday.

Wolfe is credited with being the founder of New Journalism. He insisted the only way to tell a great story was to go out and report it. His hyperbolic, stylized writing work was a gleeful fusillade of exclamation points, italics and improbable words.

One of the lines in "The Bonfire of the Vanities," for example, reads: "They go, 'Hehhehheh ... unnnnhhhh-hunhhh...'"

An ingenious phrase maker, Wolfe helped brand such expressions as "radical chic" for rich liberals' fascination with revolutionaries; and the "Me" generation, defining the self-absorbed baby boomers of the 1970s.

Among his acclaimed books were “The Right Stuff” and “A Man in Full." His best-known work, "The Bonfire of the Vanities," a satire of Manhattan-style power and justice became one of the best-selling books of the 1980’s.

“The Bonfire of the Vanities" was adapted into a movie in 1990 starring Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis and Melanie Griffith. "The Right Stuff" was also adapted into a film in 1983 starring Dennis Quaid and Ed Harris.

Wolfe was born in Richmond, Va., and had an unsuccessful pitching tryout with the New York Giants before heading to Yale University, from which he earned a Ph.D. in American studies. He wrote for publications such as the Washington Post and the New York Herald-Tribune. 

He was known for wearing his signature white suit. Wolfe lived a private life in Manhattan with his wife Sheila Wolfe, the former art director for Harper’s magazine. The two wed in 1978 when he was 48 years old and have two children, Alexandra and Thomas.

Condolences poured in from public figures, celebrities and writers following the news of Wolfe's death. 

Director Kevin Smith tweeted he was a "big fan of Tom Wolfe's 'Bonfire of the Vanities' and I've seen 'The Right Stuff' fifty times. This man's work improved my vocabulary and captured my imagination. Fare the well, Wordsmith."

Author “The Orchid Thief” author Susan Orlean tweeted her condolences.

“Tom Wolfe has died. His work changed my life and convinced me to write nonfiction. Fare thee well, Tom.”

Chris Cornell’s widow slammed a Michigan medical examiner Tuesday for conducting a “botched investigation” into the Soundgarden singer’s death a year ago.

The probe into her husband’s apparent suicide has left her with many questions and heartache, Vicky Cornell told The Detroit News. She said people had spurred conspiracy theories online making “all sorts of false accusations" and subjected her to online attacks.

“This has left me and my family still looking for answers, but at the same time, set off this whirlwind of conspiracies,” Cornell told newspaper. “Some of the people are just fans looking for answers, but some of them are conspiracy theorists who have said the most vile things to my children and me.”

Vicky Cornell said the Wayne County medical examiner wrote in the autopsy report that drugs didn’t contribute to the rocker’s cause of death, which she claimed was “completely misleading.”

“The poor choice of phrasing has misled the public to believing he was of sound mind and body,” she said. “So some conspiracy people think if Chris wasn’t impaired, he would never have killed himself, and so he must have been killed — and then they start getting into the rest of the holes.”

The widow said the conspiracy theories and the hateful comments she has received from Internet users has taken a toll on her.

“We’re human beings,” she said. “This is real life. We’re not characters in some film. I lost my husband. My children lost their father. We’re in a lot of pain, and we have to deal with these people coming after us. If the autopsy report was thorough, I believe some of this could have been avoided.”

Vicky Cornell and her husband had two children together and were married for 13 years.

The Soundgarden front man died in May 2017 at age 52 after he was found with a resistance band around his neck. Toxicology tests showed the presence of barbiturates, caffeine and lorazepam, also known as Ativan, for relief of anxiety. The report also lists naloxone, an anti-opioid drug, and a decongestant.

Vicky Cornell said the medical examiner never tested her husband’s body for Prednisone, a steroid he was prescribed. A bottle of the steroid was found in the singer’s hotel room where he was found dead.

Cornell said her husband was prescribed Ativan after he tore a muscle in his shoulder. The singer was on the drug for about a year despite it is not supposed to be taken for more than four weeks.

The barbiturates found in his system were not prescribed.

The autopsy report stated the drugs did not contribute to Cornell’s death and confirmed Cornell killed himself following a concert.

Vicky Cornell said she “doesn’t necessarily want the medical examiner to list drugs as the official cause of death” but would like some clarification.

She said her husband battled opioid addiction in the late 1990s and told a friend he relapsed in March 2017, just weeks before his death.

Margot Kidder, best known for her role as Lois Lane in the "Superman" films of the 1970s and 80s, has died. She was 69.

An obituary in Franzen Davis said the actress died on Sunday at her home in Livingston, Mont. The cause of death was not released.

Kidder starred opposite Christopher Reeve in "Superman" and three sequels. She continued to act in many movies and TV shows, most recently the 2017 film "The Neighborhood." According to IMDB, she has roles in two upcoming films that are in pre-production.

The Canadian actress began her career in 1968 and got her big break in the 1973 film "Sisters." She soon went on to appear in several critically acclaimed films, such as "Black Christmas" in 1974, "The Great Waldo Pepper" in 1975 and "92 in the Shade" later that same year.

Kidder also battled bipolar disorder and was homeless for a short time in 1996. That same year, Kidder was working on her autobiography when her computer was infected by a virus causing her to lose all of her files. She became paranoid and disappeared for four days until she was found in a stranger's backyard and taken to Olive View Medical Center by police.

Five months after her manic incident, she opened up to People magazine saying she had "mood swings that could knock over a building."

Kidder said at the time she was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder eight years earlier, but refused to take the lithium that was prescribed to her.

"It’s very hard to convince a manic person that there is anything wrong with them," said Kidder. In 2007, she revealed she had not suffered a manic episode in 11 years and credited orthomolecular medicine.

In possibly her final interview before her death, Kidder told WWJ's Sandra McNeill on May 9 she was "sad but not that sad" when her "Superman" co-star Christopher Reeve became a quadriplegic.

"The truth is he was kind of an a-----e," Kidder said before adding they had a brother-sister relationship and bickered a lot.

Kidder was married to novelist Thomas McGuane with whom she had a daughter, Maggie. She went on to marry actor John Heard in 1979 only to divorce six days later. Her third marriage was to French film director Philippe de Broca which lasted from 1983 to 1984.

She also dated late Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, directors Steven Spielberg and Tom Mankiewicz, and comedian Richard Pryor.

A rep for the actress did not immediately return Fox News' request for comment.

“Sons of Anarchy” actor David Labrava on Wednesday said he was “broken” after announcing that his 16-year-old son committed suicide after years of "quietly suffering" from depression.

Tycho Spelis Chiusano took his own life on Saturday, the announcement read.

“Never in a million tears would I think I would be posting this,” Labrava wrote on Instagram. “This is my boy Tycho. He took his life a couple of days ago at 16 years old. He suffered from a depression we couldn’t see because he was a happy young kid.”

“I am broken,” the 55-year-old actor said.

Labrava, who played Happy Lowman on the FX series, shared photos on social media of his son smiling in front of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge and on what appeared to be the set of “Sons of Anarchy.”

The actor set up a GoFundMe page in his son’s memory.

Labrava wrote his son had “an amazing and beautiful soul” and was “full of life” before issuing a reminder to “always be kind” and “to learn to communicate with each other.”

The money will go to a depression and bipolar organization, “Tycho’s last wish,” Labrava wrote.

“NCIS” actor Mark Harmon’s sister, actress and painter Kristin Harmon Nelson, died on April 27 at age 72 from a sudden heart attack, leaving behind a relationship that was at times turbulent between the siblings.

The star’s daughter, Tracy Nelson, confirmed her mother’s death in a May 1 Facebook post.

Nelson’s life forever changed when she was merely 12 years old. That’s when she met Ricky Nelson, son of 1950's icons Ozzie and Harriet.

The family starred in their own sitcom “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" from 1952 until 1966.

People magazine reported Kristin Harmon Nelson not only fell in love with the all-American family, but she later fell for the teen heartthrob romantically.

The couple married in 1963, when Harmon Nelson was just 18 and, six months later, their first child Tracy was born. As a pre-schooler, Tracy would get a taste of fame when she appeared in 1968’s “Yours, Mine and Ours” opposite Lucille Ball.

The Nelsons would soon welcome three more children, including twin sons Gunnar and Matthew, the future duo of rock band Nelson.

However, the celebrity news magazine pointed out Nelson’s story was far from happily ever after. She told People in 1987 that the couple became “hippie rock ‘n’ rollers,” leading to their downfall.

“At first we were in it together,” she explained. “I tried to be one of the guys, to fix the marriage by going on the road and being involved in road stuff that is really not good for anyone. After a while, we were totally messed up, both of us.

"I got into therapy and so did he for a while, but then he started not showing up. I tried telling my family, 'There’s a drug problem here and we’ve all got to help.' But they totally denied there was anything wrong.”

Accusations of drug and alcohol abuse plagued the marriage. People added that by 1980, Nelson filed for divorce and was temporarily granted custody of the children. However, the divorce wouldn’t be finalized until 1982.

Nelson admitted that during this time, she still used drugs and drank alcohol “quite heavily.” Too drunk to paint for a living, she had to take on a job as an assistant casting director for $200 a week.

Tragedy would then strike in 1985. Ricky, his fiancée Helen Blair and five members of his road company perished in a plane crash while traveling to Texas. He was just 45.

After the horrific crash, Nelson said it was her brother, Mark Harmon, who urged her to get help and enter rehab.

“Nobody but my brother could have talked me into this because I trusted him,” she said. “A voice inside me said, ‘For once in your life, let somebody help you.’”

But in 1987, Nelson learned that Harmon and his wife, actress Pam Dawber, were taking her to court to seek custody of her youngest child, 12-year-old son Sam. Harmon contended that Harmon Nelson was unable to take care of Sam because of her drug dependency.

Harmon Nelson told Star magazine at the time that the custody battle started when her brother persuaded her to check into a clinic for treatment.

“He said, ‘You’ve got to get off those pills and you need a good, long rest,’” she recalled.

Nelson claimed she learned of the custody action on the day she left the hospital.

“I was feeling very proud and happy because I had just very successfully completed a program to help myself,” she explained. “Suddenly, I had two hours to find a lawyer who would help me keep my son. At first, I thought it was a joke, and I wondered, ‘Where’s the punchline?’”

People noted that Harmon was awarded temporary custody and Harmon Nelson was ordered to stay 200 yards away from her brother’s home.

But Harmon, tired of the family feud, reportedly reached out to his sister’s attorney and declared, “We don’t want to go any further with this. Too much blood has been spilled.”

The family would ultimately work out an agreement. Harmon Nelson retained custody while her brother was granted visiting rights to ensure his nephew was in a safe household. The trio also agreed to enter family therapy.

In 2016, Sam told Medium his relationship with his mother improved over the years.

“As you get older, things that were important aren’t important anymore,” he explained. “Problems aren’t problems anymore. You work through them, or you don’t. But for the most part, you hope to. I think we’re in a good way together, and we have a good relationship.”

Swedish EDM star Avicii used a broken glass bottle to commit suicide, TMZ reports. 

Sources reportedly told the outlet that Avicii, whose real name was Tim Bergling, committed suicide by cutting himself with a shard of glass from a broken wine bottle.

The news of the 28-year-old's cause of death comes after his family released a statement alluding to the fact that the DJ had intended to kill himself.

"Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An over-achieving perfectionist who traveled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress," read the statement, released Thursday. "When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most — music."

The statement revealed that the EDM star "really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace. Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight. Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive."

According to TMZ, while some sources claim the fatal wound was inflicted on Avicii's neck, another said it was the DJ's wrist. Neither story has been confirmed.

The famous EDM DJ was found dead in Muscat, Oman on April 20. 

Avicii was a pioneer of the contemporary Electronic Dance Movement and a rare DJ capable of worldwide arena tours. He won two MTV Music Awards, one Billboard Music Award and earned two Grammy nominations. His famous hits included "Le7els" and "Wake me up."

Comedy legend Carol Burnett suffered a painful tragedy in 2002 when her daughter Carrie Hamilton died at age 38.

The actress/singer, who starred in the 1980’s movie “Fame” and occasionally worked with her famous mother, passed away from cancer that had started in her lungs and ultimately spread to her brain.

“I think of her every day,” the 85-year-old admitted to People Magazine Wednesday. “She never leaves me. I just feel her.”

Burnett is keeping busy these days starring in the Netflix series “A Little Help With Carol Burnett,” which features the star and a panel of children giving advice to adults.

Burnett said Hamilton was constantly on her mind while filming the show.

“She was very interested in people,” explained Burnett. “She never met a stranger. I think it’s in our genes… [knowing] you can make somebody’s day by being kind.

"She also loved to write. One time she was in New York and it was the winter, and homeless people would come up and ask for money. She would say, ‘I’ll give you $10 if you tell me your story.’ She would collect those stories and write about them.”

But Burnett’s relationship with Hamilton wasn’t always blissful. As a teenager, Hamilton struggled with drug addiction and alcoholism.

“She got sober when she was 17,” said Burnett. “I put her in a third rehab place, and oh my God, she hated me.

"I came to the conclusion that I had to love her enough to let her hate me. She got sober and we started bonding. We wound up working together, writing a play together. We worked together in three shows.”

The love they shared for each other endured. Burnett revealed losing Hamilton is a loss she will feel for the rest of her life.

“You don’t get over it, but you cope,” said Burnett. “What else can you do? When Carrie died, I didn’t want to get out of bed for a while, but I had a play to finish that we started that Hal Prince was going to direct. I owed it to Carrie, and I owed it to Hal.”

Burnett also revealed that at the time of the play, she felt her daughter’s presence, ensuring her she made the right decision.

“I got on a plane and said a little prayer to Carrie, and said, ‘I’ve got to do this alone,’” she recalled. “’Don’t leave me alone. Give me a sign that you’re with me.’”

Burnett claimed that when she got off the plane and checked into her hotel, she spotted a bouquet of birds of paradise flowers waiting for her.

“That was Carrie’s favorite flower,” she said. “She had one tattooed on her right shoulder. Then at dinner the maître d’ gave us a bottle of champagne, and the label said ‘Louise.’ That was Carrie’s middle name. Then it rained on opening night. Carrie and I were nuts for the rain.”

During her short life, Hamilton was able to successfully make her mark in Hollywood, with guest roles in hit shows such as “Murder She Wrote” and “Beverly Hills 90210.”

Hamilton, whose father was late producer Joe Hamilton, also collaborated with her mother on a stage version of Burnett’s best-selling memoir “One More Time.

She would go on to star as Maureen in the first national touring version of the musical “Rent,” as well as direct short films. In 2001, she won “The Women in Film Award” for her movie “Lunchtime Thomas.”
