Just hours before the Paris attacks, Facebook blocked a group “Report ISIS accounts” that was made by anonymous members for unmasking ISIS group members on Facebook.

The Facebook group was started by the Anonymous group “Red Cult” and was part of the operation which was termed as #OpISIS by the Anonymous group.

Social media has been the main weapon for ISIS to spread their ideology to a much bigger audience.

Facebook and twitter have been the front runners among the social network used by the ISIS and many of the leading members of ISIS have accounts on both the networks.

Facebook didn’t provide any reasons for the removal of group even after several queries from the group itself and from Counter Current News, who in a report wrote:

“Facebook has refused to respond to inquiries from Red Cult or from Counter Current News and several other alternative media outlets who have contacted them directly via their media relations number.”

Though, Facebook has now removed the ban but it doesn’t stop people from thinking of why Facebook banned the group at the first place?

As reporting violations is always encouraged by Facebook itself, there seems no reason to justify a policy breach from the Facebook group operated by the Anonymous.

What’s even more puzzling is that Facebook didn’t comment on the incident even after the removal of the ban, the Facebook group just started working, no emails or messages on whatever happened was received from Facebook.

In the past, Anonymous exported thousands of Facebook and Twitter accounts  used by the ISIS group to spread fear and propaganda. However, Twitter never removed or censored any operation conducted by the Anonymous against Isis or any other terrorist group.

The online hacktivist group Anonymous has declared a “total war” against the terrorist group and so-called Islamic State (IS, previously ISIS/ISIL) group.

To keep up with their words, the hacktivists have exposed a list of hundreds of Twitter users allegedly sympathizing or having a soft corner for the group and helping it to spread its ideology.

Anonymous has also claimed to remove 8824 Twitter accounts of alleged ISIS sympathizers. Here are the Tweets coming from the official Twitter account being the #OpISIS and #OpParis.

Upon scanning, we found out that a list of 911 alleged pro-ISIS twitter accounts were leaked and reported by Anonymous which were then suspended by the social media website.

Anonymous said it’s working on another list of target, consisting of more hundreds of pro-ISIS users on Twitter which will be forced to shutdown in order to stop propagating their violent ideology. 

This is not the first time when Anonymous have exposed pro-ISIS users on the social media. In reply to the Charlie Hebdo attack, the hacktivists shutdown 800 Twitter accounts and 12 Facebook pages belonging to the ISIS supporters.

Anonymous hacktivists are actively targeting pro-ISIS social media accounts on Twitter however, things are different on Facebook where the hacktivist had to face censorship leading to the deletion of an anti-ISIS group made for the purpose of exposing the pro-ISIS profiles. 

The strange part of the whole censorship is that the group was deleted just a few hours before the Paris terrorist attacks took place. Facebook decided not to comment on the issue but restored the group upon protest.

In a reaction to Paris Attacks last Friday, Anonymous declared a war against the ISIS on Monday and were determined to knock ISIS-linked sites and hack their social media accounts which are a big medium of spreading their false ideology and of choosing their sympathizers to spread it.

While fighting this war, the Anonymous yesterday exposed a list of more than a hundred Twitter account users who used to support the ISIS one way or the other. They also claimed to have removed more than 8800 Twitter accounts of suspected IS (previously ISIS/ISIL) sympathizers.

However, during this process of taking and hunting down ISIS related accounts, Anonymous found that the so-called Islamic State use CloudFlare for the protection of its sites from DDoS attacks.

CloudFlare is a service that secures websites online by becoming a proxy between the servers and the visitor. It also ensures the fastest connection of the visitor with the website server with protection against DDoS attacks on the websites.

The Anonymous said that CloudFlare is providing service to the IS website and the find it extremely shameful whereas Matthew Prince the CEO & Co-Founder of CloudFlare said “Anonymous are our clients and we do not censor them either.”

Prince further said that hosting a website on CloudFlare network does not mean accepting and believing their content and there are millions of pages cached inCloudFlare’s server. He also said that it is a bit ironic that Anonymous are pushing them to drop website from CloudFlare server.

In the past, Anonymous blamed CloudFlare for protecting terrorism-related sites in April 2015 during the first phase of OpISIS.

CloudFlare was also accused of protecting x-rated animal abuse websites during Anonymous’s OpBeast.

This Tuesday, Prince told Register “I did see a Twitter handle saying they are mad at us. I would suggest this was armchair analysis by kids – it’s hard to take seriously. Anonymous also uses CloudFlare for some of their sites, despite pressure from some quarters for us to take Anonymous sites offline.”

While his talk, Prince said if the cops with legal documents to take down a site come to San Francisco and ask him to do so, only then he is ready to cooperate. According to Mr. Matthew Prince, this time its Anonymous who are asking him to take down a website, next time someone else may ask some him to take down some other website due to their personal grievance. This is not how things work.

Prince also mentioned another such case from a few years back when a hacker stole and posted the information about Prince’s tax files on CloudFlare hosted website but he did not take the website down but later on that website was taken down by the US officials as the hacker did also post personal data from Michelle Obama and the FBI head.

Prince stated that he understands very clearly that the Paris attacks were one of the saddest incidents ever but said that we have to learn from America’s mistakes.

He explained, “My European friends were very quick to criticize the US post-9/11 because of the Patriot Act. There were plenty of people who said that you can’t trust any US tech firm because of it. I have a feeling now that Europe will have its own reactionary reaction, and then EU companies won’t be trusted.”

The online hacktivist Anonymous shut down 8824 Twitter accounts of ISIS members + followers in the first phase of OpParis — In the second phase the hacktivists claim to shut down more 20,000 twitter accounts — 20,000 + 8824 = 28,824.

By enduring the death of more than 120 people in Paris attacks, the ISIS has made almost the whole world its enemy. Where countries like France, Russia and America are carrying out aerial strikes on ISIS bases, the online Hacktivist group Anonymous declared “Total War” against the terrorist group.

The Anonymous are as usual carrying out heavy cyber-attacks against the IS (previously ISIS/ISIL) and have named it as #OpParis. Anonymous carried out several attacks on social media accounts of ISIS members and now claim that they have now taken down 20,000 more ISIS-linked accounts.

This Wednesday, they posted a video on Youtube saying,

“More than 20,000 Twitter accounts belonging to ISIS were taken down by the Anonymous.”

Not only they took down the accounts but they also have released a list of all these accounts. A day before this, they claimed to have taken down 8824 Twitter accounts of ISIS member and sympathizers. The Youtube video posted by Anonymous has a speaker in the Hacktivists very own Fawkes mask who stated,

“Hello, citizens of the world. We are Anonymous. It is time to realize that social media is a solid platform for ISIS’s communication as well as neutering their ideas of terror amongst youth. However, at the same time, social media has proved it is an advanced weapon. We must all work together and use social media to eliminate the accounts used by terrorists.”

He further said, “ISIS, we will hunt you and take down your sites, accounts, emails and expose you. From now on, there is no safe place for you online. You will be treated like a virus, and we are the cure.”

In the past, the online hacktivists have exposed many websites and social media accounts that were directly or indirectly pro-ISIS.

The important thing to take into consideration here is that ISIS is and has been using Twitter, Facebook and many other popular social media websites since day one to spread their false ideology, choose people to help them spreading it all over the social media.

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that ISIS has only stabilized because of social media so if Anonymous completely destroy the existence of this terrorist group from the social media, the online existence of this cruel and unkind terrorist group would come at stake.

When, after the Paris Attacks, Anonymous declared war against the ISIS and furiously told them to hold their social media, the ISIS terrorists called the Anonymous “idiots” but on the other hand, the online wing of the terrorist group decided to move to the dark web in order to protect themselves from Anonymous and their cyber attacks.

Someone is using Anonymous’s name to spread rumors about ISIS planning to target different events worldwide.

A Pastebin post posted by someone claiming to have a connection with the Anonymous hacktivist movement claims they have prior knowledge to a series of terrorist attacks planned by the so-called Islamic State (IS, previously ISIS/ISIL) group starting from 22nd November 2015.

The post claims the inside information about the attacks has already been shared with the law enforcement authorities around the world but “because the authorities have not done anything and it’s almost 22nd November 2015 we have decided to come in front and publically share the threat information”, says the group.

The list of targets posted by the self-proclaimed Anonymous includes:

WWE’s Survivor Series, which will take place in Atlanta, Georgia on 22nd November 2015.
Feast of Christ the King celebrations (Rome/Worldwide)
Al-Jihad, 1 Day Juz (Indonesia)
Five Finger Death Punch (Milan, Italy)
University Pastoral Day (Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanon)

“All proof was submitted to official authorities all around the globe days ago. They have it and it is their responsibility to do something with it. But because they have not done anything with it yet and it’s almost the 22nd, we have taken matters into our hands. We only take the responsibility of warning civilians (in case the authorities do not act well enough),” according to the Pastie.

Speaking to International Business Times, the group behind the alert of these potential attacks said it had passed proof to MI5, CIA, FBI and the Australian government but has no plans to release it publicly.

“If we share the proof [publicly] everyone will start calling it fake because screenshots can be edited and accounts can be deleted. We have purposely not shared account links publicly because they would be shut down immediately and then no one would believe the proof.”

However, one of the largest Anonymous account on Twitter turned down the threats claim in one simple line:

Anonymous and the so-called Islamic State are at war against each other for a very long time. The war intensified after the Paris terrorist attacks. Currently, Anonymous is conducting cyber attacks on websites and social media pages of the terrorist group.

In the past, Anonymous exposed 26,000 users on Twitter spreading ISIS’s violent ideology on the Internet. The hacktivists also exposed companies protecting the sites run by the terrorists.

The Internet is full of rumors, sometimes it is impossible to check the authenticity of the claims made by hackers and whistleblowers. In this case, readers are urged not to fall for fear mongering tactics.

ISIS has unveiled list of U.S. officials who are on their target — The list includes names of both current and former government officials and military personnel.

Late on Saturday, a group of hackers calling themselves “Islamic State Cyber Army,” unveiled a list of officials who are either currently working for or have in past worked for the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, the FBI, the CIA, the National Counterterrorism Center, the National Guard and other American organizations and agencies. With that, they posted pictures of military personnel who have taken part in operations against Afghanistan, Qatar, Iraq and Kuwait, reports Vocativ.

But, this is not the first time ISIS has published such a list. In August, they leaked information on several U.S. military personnel and government employees through forums run by them. A number of ISIS affiliated accounts shared the information on their social media accounts and asked for members of the group to attack these officials.

In March this year, the same hackers leaked the names, pictures and addresses of 100 U.S. military personnel urging its “brothers residing in America” to slay them. The leaked file was named as The Hit List.

Going through the information posted the by the terror group on Saturday it was found that most of the information was already available online and was compiled to make up a list, they weren’t from any new system hacks.

The hackers, who published the information online, attributed list to be a response to Anonymous attacks on twitter accounts of ISIS members and also on the forum ran by ISIS.

Alongside the list of targets there were some other threats mentioned by the terror group, on a twitter account (suspended now) a video said:

“We will spy on you and leak your (information) and take your money,” the video, posted to a now-suspended Twitter account, said. “Yours and your families’ information and secrets are not secure anymore.” In the video, they also declared war on any country fighting against the ISIS.

During the weekend, Anonymous group said ISIS is planning an attack on Paris and WWE Survivor Series event in Atlanta and Georgia. Though, the group later tweeted and termed their projections as “Just a rumor”. But, it’s unclear on whether the list and this rumor had any connections.

“They [Anonymous] don’t have any counterterrorism experience whatsoever,” said Ghost Security Group’s executive director, who spoke to BBC Trending via phone, who asked BBC to keep his identity secret. “We felt that not enough was being done and the Charlie Hebdo attack made it clear that ISIS was not confined to the Middle East.”

Agencies such as FBI when reached out to comment on the existence of such a group declined to comment. So, any claims made by the group are difficult to verify.

But, on the phone with BBC, the director of the group told that volunteers for the group were from US, Europe and the Middle East. Most of the members are“people familiar with intelligence gathering techniques,” Director said.

The security group actually believes spying on ISIS is a better strategy rather than taking their accounts or website down via DDoS attacks, as Anonymous do. What the group does is keep an eye on twitter account and tries to gather as much information as possible when they have enough information on the account they hand it over to law enforcement agencies.

Ghost Security believes is spying on ISIS

“We would much prefer to stop attacks than shut down websites,” the executive director said.“I don’t think DDoS attacks do a huge amount of damage to Islamic State. Anonymous are hitting some extremist forums that have intelligence value, but we would like forums to stay online so we can see what people are saying and gather intelligence from them.”

Furthermore, the group claimed that it averted an attack on Tunisia’s Island (Djerba) in July whose knowledge they gained from a Jihadi chatter. According to the director, these attacks were to be carried out to follow up June attacks in which 38 people were killed including many British tourists. Records show Tunisia was among the IS targets in July, but it is difficult to verify if it was the Ghost group whose efforts averted the attacks.

Michael Smith, a member of the Ghost group and chief operating officer of security consultancy Kronos Advisory said his group saved each activity from ISIS twitter account as most of the time tweets come in and after a brief exchange of messages the tweets get vanished. When talking about group’s strategies, he said:

“They are not just identifying channels [of communication], they have put together a list of accounts which are utilised by people with influence,” Smith said. “These people have saved lives.”

With the ghost group working privately and helping the government, their relationships are real healthy:

“We have data. We can’t do anything with that data unless we work with the US government. They have the guns and the boots on the ground, they can disrupt terrorist operations.”

In the past, when Ghost Security group was connected to the Anonymous hacktivist it conducted cyber attacks on the IS and prepared a list of 60,000 potential Twitter accounts that were being used by the terrorists.

GhostSec also made it to the news for exposing pro-ISIS sites and hosting companies protecting them.

Anonymous, however, has rejected all the criticism from the ghost group and believe their actions are working positively in restricting the terror group.

“It stops them from talking. It stops them from recruiting young kids that have no place to go or people that are sick in the head,” an Anonymous operative told BBC Radio 4’s Profile. “A lot of people think that some of the stuff we do, we just blurt names out, but that’s not solely how we operate.”

In November, the group rebranded itself from “Ghost security” to “Ghost security group” and moved their website accordingly.

The group avoids using techniques that fall into “legal grey areas” and this was the reason why it re-branded as one part of the group was of the opinion to carry out the Anonymous-like attacks while the other wasn’t, so the one which was keen on about a healthy relationship with the government re-branded the website.

Ghost Security is using its website as a platform for people who want to report suspicious activities on social media because lately ISIS has moved to the dark web and started using encrypted communication services and devices so they are difficult to track for now.

Just a week after the news of ISIS moving their online operations to the dark web, one of their main websites has been taken down by Ghost Sec hackers who have been in a relationship with the Anonymous group.

Ghost Sec, a faction of the hacktivist collective Anonymous (unaffiliated with the counter-terrorism organisation Ghost Security Group), targeted the Isdarat website after it appeared on the Tor anonymity network last week.

The targeted ISIS’ site showed an ad for a brand that is involved in selling pharmaceutical items with a message for the terror group:

“Too much ISIS. Enhance your calm. Too many people are into this ISIS-stuff. Please gaze upon this lovely ad so we can upgrade our infrastructure to give you ISIS content you all so desperately crave.”

According to IBT, the websites was hacked by Ghost Sec, which in past has been in relation with the Anonymous group. Most of the web pages from the website were down and showed nothing.

This is the first attack on the so-called Islamic State (IS, previously ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group after Anonymous warned the terror group to “expect us” right after the Paris attacks. One of the Anonymous members from France said:

“Anonymous from all over the world will hunt you down.‘You should know that we will find you and we will not let you go. We will launch the biggest operation ever against you. Expect massive cyber attacks. War is declared. Get prepared.”

It seems a new cyber war has already started, even though ISIS has already moved its operation to the dark web. However, Anonymous and related groups are one step ahead of them. So, it will be interesting to see how ISIS replies back to this!

The hacktivist group Anonymous breached into the website of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and leaked a trove of personal information of 1415 officials.

While the United Nations Climate Conference (Cop21) is taking place in Paris, France, the online hacktivist Anonymous is protesting against the arrests of peaceful protesters marching against the Climate-related policies in the country’s capital.

Earlier yesterday, 208 protesters were arrested by the police and this is something Anonymous is not happy with. So to mark its protest the group breached into the official website of UNFCCC exploiting simple SQL vulnerability and got accesses to a trove of personal information of registered users and officials from hundreds of countries around the world.

In an exclusive conversation with one of the Anonymous hacktivists, HackRead was told that:

“We will continue fighting for  Humans, Greens and Animals rights. We know they use victims of ParisAttacks to restrict people rights, we know they don’t care climate changes what they caused that.”

The Leaked Data:

After scanning the leaked data, HackRead can confirm it to be legit and never been leaked before. The data has been divided into two files and both of them includes usernames, emails, encrypted passwords, secret questions and their answers, phone and fax numbers, PO Box numbers, city name, office address and company names.

Most of the leaked credentials belong to the officials from Australia, Canada, Pakistan, Brazil, Belgium, India, UK, USA, Turkey, Germany, Norway, Ethiopia, Egypt, Ghana, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand and several other countries.

The hacktivists are also planning to leak more personal data on the officials against the police attack on the Cop21 march. Once they do, HackRead will update our readers.

According to Anonymous:

“We could deface the site, but that won’t hurt them, we know data leak will and does so there’s more to come. These hacks are not just against Police brutality, these are also against Cop21 to support Global Climate March.”

The kind of information leaked by Anonymous in this attack poses a huge threat to the online identity and privacy of the affected users. Cyber criminals can use this information to hack into their emails, social media and even the banking accounts.

This is not the first time when Anonymous protested in support of climate, human and animal rights. In the past, the hacktivists went against X-Rated animal abuse websites and shut down world’s largest animal abuse forum.

In October 2015, Anonymous also claimed responsibility for shutting down two Japanese Airport websites against Dolphin slaughter in the country.

The Leaked Data:

After scanning the leaked data, HackRead can confirm it to be legit and never been leaked before. The data has been divided into two files and both of them includes usernames, emails, encrypted passwords, secret questions and their answers, phone and fax numbers, PO Box numbers, city name, office address and company names.

Most of the leaked credentials belong to the officials from Australia, Canada, Pakistan, Brazil, Belgium, India, UK, USA, Turkey, Germany, Norway, Ethiopia, Egypt, Ghana, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand and several other countries.

The hacktivists are also planning to leak more personal data on the officials against the police attack on the Cop21 march. Once they do, HackRead will update our readers.

According to Anonymous:

“We could deface the site, but that won’t hurt them, we know data leak will and does so there’s more to come. These hacks are not just against Police brutality, these are also against Cop21 to support Global Climate March.”

The kind of information leaked by Anonymous in this attack poses a huge threat to the online identity and privacy of the affected users. Cyber criminals can use this information to hack into their emails, social media and even the banking accounts.

This is not the first time when Anonymous protested in support of climate, human and animal rights. In the past, the hacktivists went against X-Rated animal abuse websites and shut down world’s largest animal abuse forum.

In October 2015, Anonymous also claimed responsibility for shutting down two Japanese Airport websites against Dolphin slaughter in the country. 

Yesterday HackRead reported how Anonymous breached into the official website of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and leaked a trove of personal information of about 1415 officials.

We also reported that Anonymous is gearing up for a second leak related to the ongoing Cop21 conference. As promised, Anonymous has now breached into the website of Meta-Fusion GmbH, a Germany-based official Webcast Streaming Service Provider for the UNFCCC and leaked login credentials of the company’s employees.

In an exclusive conversation with one of the Anonymous hackers behind the breach, HackRead was told that the reason for targeting the Meta-Fusion GmbH and release personal data of its employees was to protest against the so-called climate change conference and the police brutality on the Cop21 protesters.

“These hacks are not just against Police brutality, but also against the Cop21 to support Global Climate March, as we support the Green Rights.”

Detailed Analysis on the leaked data:

The leaked data has been divided into three files where the first file contains site’s database while the next two files contain login data of the company’s employees such as names, usernames, organization names, emails, email addresses, encrypted and unencrypted passwords of about 300 users.

The leaked data is available in three files: File 1, File 2, File 3.

When asked how they got into the meta-fusion website Anonymous told HackRead that: 

“It was not hard for me, just another cake cuz they don’t have any idea how to secure their server from common vulnerabilities.”

This is not the first time when Anonymous protested in support of climate, human and animal rights. In the past, the hacktivists went against X-Rated animal abuse websites and shut down world’s largest animal abuse forum.

Therefore, Anonymous will try to project their image from saviors of the religion to a terrorist group that fornicate goats.

Users are asked to upload all kinds of comic material directed towards ISIS warriors by next Friday.

The objectives to be achieved from this campaign are as follows:

• To get #Daeshbags trend on Twitter


• Using hashtags that usually ISIS members use but post satirical content instead


• Mocking captured ISIS members and posting their photos


• Uploading satirical videos of ISIS


• Distribution of comical photos, stickers and salient mock material around the city

The official Anonymous ISIS trolling campaign was announced to the world with this message:

“We will mock them for the idiots they are. We will show them what they really are they do not stand for a religion, they do not stand for a god, they are brainwashers teaching from the young to the old their propaganda against the ‘west’ when in reality they are just increasing the distance between countries by giving many a bad name.”

Earlier this week Anonymous announced that the group will not only conduct cyber attacks against ISIS but also troll them with additional humor on 11th December.

Anonymous also urged people from around the world to join the hacktivist group, post memes and photoshopped images of the terrorist group to annoy the supporters and the sympathizers of the so-called Islamic State terrorist group.

Anonymous has so far conducted several cyber attacks on the websites and social media accounts run by ISIS supporters. One good example is the last month’s hack in which the group  with a viagra advert and asked the terrorists to calm down. 

So far, Anonymous has forced the terrorist group to run away from the front and hide behind the dark web.

The infamous hacktivists collective Anonymous has declared Michigan governor Rick Snyder guilty for the ongoing Flint water contamination crisis.

On Wednesday, a statement was released by the Anonymous Intelligence Group, which is associated with the hacktivists collective. It read: “Anonymous Activates #OpFlint…And Yes It’s About Time!”

The statement was followed by a video posted by the group on YouTube. Thus, it is evident that the notorious hacker group has launched a campaign called #OpFlint against the governor.

#OpFlint campaign is aimed at gathering evidence against Snyder so that he could be sent to jail.

The governor has been in the news for quite some time now due to his slow response to the Flint water crisis in which lead levels in drinking water increased so much that officials had to switch the water source to a local river.

The video addresses the widespread reports that lead levels in the blood stream of kids in Flint has increased tremendously, which is obviously a very risky situation.

In the video, as per the tradition of Anonymous, a hooded figure wearing the Guy Fawkes mask appears to deliver the team’s message to public. The message is as follows:

“We currently believe that enough evidence exists to arrest Gov. Snyder for either voluntary or involuntary manslaughter and that a full-scale investigation into the Flint water crisis and a criminal trial will yield the information that will send Gov. Snyder to prison.”

In the video, Anonymous has set its crosshairs on Snyder but at the same time, the group has admitted that they have been late in addressing the issue.

The masked figure also acknowledged that Michiganians have been in great danger since April 2014:

“For over a year now the citizens of Flint, Michigan have been subjected to drinking tap water filled with lead and other poisons.”

The attack plan hasn’t been specified by Anonymous in the video but the narrator has assured that those affected by this crisis in Flint will get justice.

“We will amplify your voice where the mainstream media will surely fail you as it has in the past. We will also join you in calling bullshit on any spin that the corporate media is prepared to put on this.”

The message can be seen as a somewhat belated reaction of the federal class-action lawsuit filed against Gov. Snyder and other officials about two months ago by four families. One month back, a public health state of emergency was declared by Flint Mayor Karen Weaver and four days later President Obama also declared a state of emergency at federal level thereby granting $5million in aid.

The emergence of such drastic reaction just shows how arduously Anonymous is following the norm of launching reactionary campaigns.

Vocativ’s analysis of all the operations launched by Anonymous since its formation in 2006 revealed most of its early campaigns were directed to drawing public attention towards issues like the dark side of the Church of Scientology, child pornography and internet censorship.

However, recently Anonymous has shifted its focus to address most recent crisis situations like the attack on Charlie Hebdo, Donald Trump’s remarks and Paris attacks. This means, instead of inspiring headlines like before, Anonymous is now taking inspiration from the headlines itself. This can be assumed so because the latest Flint water crisis was covered extensively by the media nationwide.

Anonymous and supporters of the LulzSec group breached into the server of Cosa Rican government website for OpPuraVida.

The online hacktivist Anonymous Costa Rica along with the supporters of LulzSec group breached into the server of country’s Ministry Of Foreign Affairs and leaked login credentials of registered users. The breach was conducted under the banner of operation OpPuraVida (OpPureLife in English).

OpPuraVida is an ongoing operation which aims to target Costa Rican governments to mark protest against the Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) between Harken Costa Rica Holdings – a firm with close corporate ties to Harken Energy of Texas, President Bush’s former oil company, and MKJ Xplorations of Metairie, LA. 

In an exclusive conversation with the hacker (Hanom1960 (@hanomlulzsec on Twitter) behind the breach, HackRead was told that:

”We are against CAFTA. It is based on the same failed neoliberal NAFTA model, which has displaced family farmers in trade partner countries, exacerbated the “race to the bottom” in labor and environmental standards and promoted privatization and deregulation of key public services.”

What’s at Stake with CAFTA: Costa Rica’s Talamanca Coast

Costa Rica’s Talamanca region has one of the richest marine ecosystems on the planet. It contains reserves for three indigenous communities, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Cahuita National Park, and a UNdesignated wetlands site at the Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge. According to the environmental review, offshore oil would threaten:

1 Key sea turtle breeding areas for the hawksbill, great-headed and endangered leatherback and green turtles.

After scanning the leaked data, we have found out that attackers leaked full names, ID numbers, phone numbers, emails and their encrypted passwords.

Anonymous and supporters of LulzSec hackers target African governments against massive corruption.

The online hacktivist Anonymous is targeting African countries to protest against the increasing corruption in government sector — The cyber attacks are conducted under the banner of operation OpAfrica where targeted countries are Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, South Africa, Tanzania, Rwanda Uganda and Zimbabwe.

The Anonymous hackers who in past hacked the South African Government contractor and the U.S. Department of Agriculture websites for OpMonsanto are back in action and this time they have hacked into the servers of Ugandan Ministry Of Finance and an IT company under the Rwandan government.

While targeting the finance.go.ug domain the hackers were able to breach into the ministry server and leaked a trove of data which is now available online. The leaked data includes site’s database, about 500 + usernames, phone numbers, emails and their encrypted passwords. Another list in the same folder contains about 100 usernames and their encrypted passwords.

When it comes to Rwandan government the leaked data can be labeled as devastating as hackers breached into the server of the Broadband Systems Corporation (BSC), an Information technology firm responsible for providing video conferencing service to the government sector. Hackers were able to access the company’s online ticketing system and email addresses. The hackers also leaked names of people working for the firm, phone numbers, email addresses and encrypted passwords.

That’s not all, the hackers have also leaked confidential data such as client information, sensitive internal email conversations, emails and passwords. The email conversation is also sensitive as the employees were talking about changing of passwords and what will be the new password etc.

“Dear Hamza > > It has been fixed. The DB was not connecting. check if there is no one > who changed the rbcgov_admin password from your end, according to the leaked email conversation.”
